Local Proxy Server - Almost Working

Submitted by RossGoodman on September 19, 2007 - 6:38pm

Almost there......

I'm always annoyed at having to configure all of my web enabled apps to use different proxy servers when I go on a client site. More annoying when I forget to change them back when I get home.

The solution is to run my own proxy server.
I configure all of my apps to use a proxy server on "localhost:80"

When I change sites all I have to do is reconfigure my proxy server.

All Apps -> My ProxyServer -> RealProxy Server -> Internet

My problem is I could not find a local proxy server program, until I remembered Apache is bundled with XAMMPLite.

Syncronization

Submitted by theco805 on September 19, 2007 - 5:14pm

Hey guys.
Does any one know of any good PortableApps for synchronizing entire folders?
What I'm looking for is a way to keep a back-up of all my memory stick files on my school network drive. So, I want something that would allow me to sync a folder on my memory stick with my folder at school. I would like an application that saved and synched the most recently changed version of documents....
Can anyone suggest any programs????

Thanks Smile

Request for Unknown helpdesk ticket system

Submitted by captlogic on September 19, 2007 - 1:10pm

I'm not posting this to the requested apps section, because I don't have a specific appliction name.

What I'm wondering, does anyone know of an open source, help desk ticketing system?

I'd love to take on the 'programming/conversion' task of converting to a portable application. I've found several freeware applications but they all seem to require a web server. I know you could 'probably' setup one of these to work with xampp, but I was hoping for a more self-contained solution.

Is it possible for Seamonkey 2.0 to be made portable?

Submitted by Trel on September 19, 2007 - 10:59am

Since from what I understand, it'll be based on the same backend as firefox, is it concievable that it could be made portable? Actually, with the alpha version as it is now, is it able to be made portable?

(I realize the seamonkey question has come up a number of times, but I also saw that most topic that asked about the Suiterunner the topic kinda died there before an answer was given.)

Offline Browsing - Saving web pages

Submitted by StephenQ on September 19, 2007 - 5:49am

Hey there,
Does anyone know how i can save a website as html + all images + flash etc into a folder to go along with it?
IE6 had an 'offline favorite' option to save websites a certain amount of links deep. I want to do this but not as a favorite, and with multiple links deep.
Any tools to do this seem to have their own cache for it, and i just want a standalone folder with the files in it.
Anyone have an idea of how to do this?
