Trillian Portable (Already done, patching the original Trillian)

Submitted by Ma-ho on March 13, 2007 - 2:01pm

Program: Trillian

License: Free but not open source(Basic version)

Description: Universal Instant Messenger

Website: http://trillian.cc (official)
http://www.trilliananywhere.com/ (Trillian portable.)

Other: http://www.trilliananywhere.com/ has a step by step page on how to do that, but I found it would be much more conveniet if it were possible to make like Firefox portable, a patch on the original software.

Total Commander (Already done, with helper App)

Submitted by Ma-ho on March 13, 2007 - 1:55pm

Program: Total Commander

License: Shareware

Description: Two Panel classic "Commander" application

Website: http://www.ghisler.com/

Other: On its download page, it contains a Install-to-USB converter, but I find it much more conveniet to put it on PortableApps systray menu.

I use it already there, as I figure out I could do that if I put an EXE that call the portable program.

There are serveral open source tools for file wping. A good list is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_wiping. I don`t know which programm is reviewed as beeing secure. But to have a good one as portable would be nice.

I don`t know any open source tools for file undelete, but sometimes this could be helpful aswell.

Portable Linux Kernel inside Windows _without_ emulation (complicated and interesting imho)

Submitted by guestt on March 11, 2007 - 7:20pm

CoLinux is a way to run linux inside (!) windows.
No emulation such as vmware!
Therefore linux and all linux applications will run with fullspeed and without lag!

Some links....
- http://www.colinux.org/ (I guess it`s the basic project. Imho you need to be a little geek to get it running.
- http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/AndLinux (promising but still to complicated)
- http://sourceforge.net/projects/colonist/ (Aim`s to be run out of the box, I did not get it to work.)
- http://www.topologilinux.com/ (Most easy installer, I got it working including online connection.)
