December 2025 Site Slowdown Being Addressed
PortableApps.com Menu, Backup and Platform/Suite installer.
Hi Portable-Apps-Team,
When I start up the platform, I would like a setting to allow me to PREpend portable app directories to my PATH environment variable. When I shutdown the platform, I would like those items removed from the altered PATH.
The purpose of this is to put portableapps in the front of the line for CLI. For example, there might be an older version of a program installed to the system I am using. I want my newer portableapp version to be found first on a command line prompt.
I am considering installing a Linux operating system on my PC.
Will PortableApps.com Platform work on any or all Linux operating systems and will all portable apps work on my Linux OP if they are installed on the PortableApps.com Platform?
If this (PortableApps.com Platform) was a way for all portable apps to work on any or all Linux operating systems, it would expand portableapps.com and the Linux operating systems.
Updates went very well and without problems for the last 5 years. But today a file could not be overwritten by the update process. As it could still not do after multiple repitions, I cancelled the update. But now I can no longer start portableapps ... I assume that older ecxecutables and/or libraries had been delted but not replaced by newer ones ... the tray icon is still there but on every try to access it "acess violations" are reported.
Would a new install of portableapps overwrite everything I already have on disk or is there a repair mode at installation?
I'm having an issue now with the platform where suddenly it started not launching any apps whatsoever.
It doesn't matter the app - it will not start any apps, nor the updater or the get apps interface.
What can I do here?
Greetings, I'm Kei, a new user of PortableApps.
I've had begun using PortableApps Platform as my main toolbox, installed a lotta stuff, and I'm very satisfied with it, it's amazing.
Hello,
What is the exact command line to extract a "...paf.exe" file.
For example, I'm trying to extract "LibreOfficePortable_6.3.1_MultilingualAll.paf.exe" which is almost 199 MB size, and after extracting with
"7-Z" program, I get all the extracted files only 3.19 MB.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,
While making some registry editing, I found several strange entries named "Sign.Media".
Searched the net and found nothing. Accidentally when I connected the usb stick with the "Portable Apps" on it, and clicked on "Start.exe" in the file explorer, I noticed a new such entry in the registry.
Can Somebody please explain what is it and why is it, and why it touches the registry at all.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim
This problem started earlier this year after a PortableApps update. I didn't track which one, I just ignored it and worked around it thinking it would be fixed in the next update. Nope.
There is a bug in the summary window: https://imgur.com/a/a0FOyNu (I use hungarian language, the "Mappa:" = "Folder:")
In the folder path name end visible the "\r" escape character?! In the example above I make a backup to the S: drive, not "r" folder in the S: drive.
Sorry for my poor english!
