Extracting a "paf.exe" file

Submitted by Motim on September 26, 2019 - 10:18am

Hello,
What is the exact command line to extract a "...paf.exe" file.
For example, I'm trying to extract "LibreOfficePortable_6.3.1_MultilingualAll.paf.exe" which is almost 199 MB size, and after extracting with
"7-Z" program, I get all the extracted files only 3.19 MB.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks

Entries in Registry

Submitted by Motim on September 10, 2019 - 12:09pm

Hello,
While making some registry editing, I found several strange entries named "Sign.Media".
Searched the net and found nothing. Accidentally when I connected the usb stick with the "Portable Apps" on it, and clicked on "Start.exe" in the file explorer, I noticed a new such entry in the registry.
Can Somebody please explain what is it and why is it, and why it touches the registry at all.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

Backup summary screen false folder path

Submitted by szekitom on August 11, 2019 - 10:45am

There is a bug in the summary window: https://imgur.com/a/a0FOyNu (I use hungarian language, the "Mappa:" = "Folder:")
In the folder path name end visible the "\r" escape character?! In the example above I make a backup to the S: drive, not "r" folder in the S: drive.

Sorry for my poor english!

[Fixed] app store no longer screenreader accessible

Submitted by dnraikes on August 8, 2019 - 2:39pm

Portableapps platform 16.0
windows 10 64-bit
JAWS 2019

I just installed portableapps 16.0 on a usb harddrive and was disappointed to discover that the app store context menu is no longer readable by the JAWS screenreader.

When I click (press space/enter) on apps, the context menu pops up but jaws can't read any of the items in the menu.
When I perform the same steps on portableapps 14.0 (the last version I have available, the context menu is completely accessible and reads fine.

Using Wine to run PortableApps on linux

Submitted by jrvz on August 5, 2019 - 2:31pm

I am using Linux Mint and have installed Wine to run Windows programs. I want to use PortableApps on this machine, I haven't found one that I can use as a "native" application in Linux, and the version I have downloaded from the PortableApps website PortableApps.com_Platform-Setup_16.0.2.paf.exe is a paf loader & Wine does not like it. I think what i need is something like PortableApps.com_Platform-Setup_16.0.2.exe as mentioned in the support section in Download & Install. Where can i get it?

Synchronizing PortableApps configurations across computers/usb memory sticks

Submitted by AlterMind on July 29, 2019 - 5:58pm

Hello !

Is there something (similar to FireFox's synchronisation account) like a central PA synchronisation feature, allowing to automatically keep the same installed apps on all the computers where I've installed PA or am using PA ? My problem is that those computers don't always have permanent Internet access (hence the memory stick) and/or are not fully under my control/exclusive usage, which makes me reluctant to use a cloud service and/or leave my cloud account credentials on these computers.

Thanks for your feedback and advice !

How to make it autorun?

Submitted by viajerozz on July 29, 2019 - 1:31pm

Can somebody please tell me how to make this Platform autostartup when I boot my USB WinPE stick? I have indicated to "Start after Windows boot" or whatever during the install process and I have tried editing the autorun.inf file six ways to Sunday and I just cant seem to get it to autostart upon booting WinPE...it is in a root directory named \Programs. Thanks for any info!
