Updating unzipped individual apps as batch

Submitted by balcis on January 26, 2015 - 7:28am

Sorry if I couldn't express myself at the title.

I download portable apps and unzip them individually and do not launch them by platform, I make shortcuts for each and run them that way. By this I feel like they are installed apps in Program Files not portable ones.

Anyway, I want to update them all automatically. Because I unzipped and installed them myself, the portableapps.com platform doesn't see them. They don't appear in the menu.

So without using platform, can I or how can I update my apps all together?

thanks.

Hello,

I use Appsportable on three supports : Hard disk of ma PC, USB Disk and USB key. On Hard disk and USB Disk, thre is no problem for automatic updating.

But, with USB key, the update don't work. Manual update too (on the same machine at th same time whatever at home or at office).

The message is "Impossible de se connecter à PortableApps.com pour récupérer les applications portables. Veuillez réessayer ultérieurement [ InvalidZipFilePossibleNoConnectionOrFirewall ]

Updater - strange issue

Submitted by baniaczek on January 20, 2015 - 4:01pm

I'm using pApps platform in two distinct environments: on production server and at home.
Options at home:
check for updates: yes
update to beta platform releases: yes
Options in production environment:
update to beta platform releases: no

It was set several versions ago. For now both are 12.0.5 (not beta)

If there is available update for the apps (not the platform itself):
In production environment there is a window with list of updates as list with checkboxes.

OneDrive Installation Issue

I have installed the PortableApps Platform on OneDrive. It works fine from the computer (using Win 8.1) from which I installed it. I can launch the PortableApps platform and run installed portable apps.

But when I try to launch the PortableApps platform from OneDrive using my Asus VivoTab Note 8 (also using Win 8.1) I get the following PortableApps.com Platform error message:

"Cannot open file
'C:\Users\Phill_000\OneDrive\PortableApps.com\App\Graphics\Chrome\matte.png'. The file cannot be accessed by the system."

How to uninstall PortableApp Plateform

Submitted by Garamante on January 12, 2015 - 6:50am

I first installed PortableApp Plateform on a sd card. But later I decided to install the whole thing on a usb key. Perfect. No problem. But it's just merely impossible to uninstall the portableApp Platform from my former sd card. Tried format, a simple erase, an partition erase and... PortableApp appear again like a charm. Just incredible.

Have you got an answer to that great mystery?

Updater looses all my apps

Submitted by LastSamurai on January 8, 2015 - 1:15pm

Hey there, I used portable apps with about 30 apps for some years now. Today when I started the launcher again (usually I just use shortcuts) it asked me to update the launcher, which I allowed. After that the launcher restarted and asked me to install apps from the list of available apps. I checked none of the boxes because I already have installed any app that I need at the moment.

How to make updater silently install all updates?

Hello.

When portableapps platform finds updates it shows a window with the list of available apps updates. When hit update button the updater starts downloading all the apps, and when finished it start installing them.
Many apps get updated silently, but A LOT are showing installer window where we have to press "next" button in order for it to continue. As you can imagine having 20+ apps to confirm is gets quiet old quickly.

How to make the updater do the updates silently without need of human interaction?

How to remove the Windows 8 'pinned' Icon?

I'm sure this is in a FAQ or document. Alas I could not find it searching with Google or the Forums here.

On Windows 8.1 how do I turn off the 'pinned' icon that Windows puts on the left side of the screen when Portable Apps is running?
I didn't 'pin' the icon it just comes up when Portable Apps is started at boot.

The icon is in the tray on the right where it should be. I don't want it on both places.
