Sourceforge Adware Injection

Submitted by pastymage on September 8, 2015 - 9:24am

I'm having trouble updating both Chrome and Skype - it appears that the SonicWALL Gateway AV now considers SourceForge's injected adware worthy of blocking. ("This request is blocked by the SonicWALL Gateway Anti-Virus Service. Name: InstallCore.A_43 (Adware)")

SF used to be great, but these days...any chance you guys will be switching to less scummy project hosting soon?

Suggestions

Submitted by Plavozont on September 6, 2015 - 10:57pm

I like portableapps very much, but I have few suggestions about portableapps platform.

1. On WinXP when portableapps platform start menu is not visible it is not shown in the taskbar, only in tray icon, on Win7 it is always visible in the task bar. Please make an option to hide icon from taskbar.

2. Make mouse down animation for buttons (apps, options, search, help) the fact that I press the button and don't see it is pressed is very frustrating.

Hallo!

Is it possible to add a portable Software which is just copied into the PotableApps file to the menu if the .exe of the Software (lets call it MySoftware) is not located in \PortableApps\MySoftware\, so if ist for example located like this \PortableApps\MySoftware\Somefile\MySoftware.exe.

Does PAP check for updates for non-PA apps?

I have several apps that aren't available via PortableApps, but they're available as portables elsewhere. These are

- Bulk Rename Utility
- Defraggler
- InstantEyedropper
- MD5 and SHA Checksum Utility
- StartKiller

As long as I have the EXE file in the top directory of the app's folder, it shows up in the apps list in PAP. But, will PAP automatically check for updates for these apps or do I still have to manually do so?

Launcher on USB device being pluged in to a PC

I am wondering, I have started using the Portable App launcher for a little bit, and I love it however, there is one problem. The program dose not start up apron being pluged into a Windows PC, and the option to run the program is not available, is there anything that I can do to change this??
(Auto play sees the device and asks to run portable App launcher, Or start.exe)

Fast way to shut down

Submitted by OLLI_S on August 22, 2015 - 5:31am

Hello,

I have Windows 10 and shutting down the PC via the keyboard requires more key presses than in Windows 7:

  • Windows 7: {Windows} {Right Arrow} {Right Arrow} {Enter}
  • Windows 10: {Windows} {Up Arrow} {Up Arrow} {Enter} {Down Arrow} {Down Arrow} {Enter}

The Portable Apps Platform can be opened using {Ctrl}+{Alt}+{Space}
Here I have at the right bottom the "Power Off" button.
Is there a fast way to access this button using the keyboard?

Greetings

OLLI
