Install the same portable app many times (with update)

Submitted by kinto on July 17, 2014 - 8:26am

Hello everyone,
I discovere PortableApps Platform two days ago and is a great software.
Now my question are:

1. Is it possible with PortableApps Platform to install a Portable App (Firefox Portable for example) more than once?

2. If I have multiple installation of the same portable app (for now I've moved my fireforx portable folders in the PortablApps Platform installation directory and I can see all of them in the menu list) how can I update all of them when I perform a check for the Update in the Applications menu?

Thanks.

Since there is a PortableApps.com Wallpaper Switcher, then theoretically,, wouldn't a PortableApps.com Screensaver Switcher be possible? Since the aforementioned Walpaper Switcher is already a feature and there is possibly a portable desktop icons feature in the future, why not complete the package with a Screensaver Switcher and have a totally customized portable desktop?

What Portable Apps Could Be.

For a number of years i used a program called Pstart. some of you may have used this program, before the portable launcher was developed. it allowed you to do some incredibly useful things.

when it was launched, you could set each program in the menu to launch also, if you desired, but also, one could launch programs when exiting the program.

when i exited the menu, i would launch a batch script that would check and make sure each and everyone of my apps were unloaded from memory, or it would alert me that they were not, and attempt to kill the programs.

startup says invalid floating pt operation, no menu display

if i install and run portableapps.com platform on an external disk (NAS, 2tb*2 raid1 mirrored) during startup it displays "invalid floating pt op" in modal dialog with OK button. the menu does not display, though hovering over taskbar icon shows menu.

when i copy that same installation (file tree) to my c: disk, it works fine. haven't tried usb flash disk yet.

since it's portable, it should run from any disk, n'est-ce pas?'t
maybe it has a problem on a disk accessed via the network?

latest 11.2 version (haven't tried beta v12).

Update request

I've been downloading individual packages for years. I finally decided to give the platform a try. Overall, I am pleased; however, when it updates, it does not allow for the package that is being updated to be saved. I've already run into a problem where an update is buggy and want to revert, so I keep the last package and the new package on my USB. Would you please make it an option to save the update package to the USB.
Thank you

Laggy Platform

Whenever I start the PA.c Platform on my home computer, it takes a while to load up (30 seconds or more) and it takes longer than normal to scroll through my apps. Is there any way I can reduce or eliminate this lag? I have all of my programs installed on it so this is a major problem for me.
