Feature Request: Create Shortcut Button

Submitted by DaddySmash on March 10, 2014 - 12:26pm

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to make a shortcut directly in the Portable Apps menu? In this way, someone could add apps that may not be portable, but still work on a thumb drive. For example, DraftSight is not likely to allow me the change the program to the PortableApps standards, but if someone could make a shortcut to point to the nested DraftSight.exe file, then they could launch it from the Portable Apps Menu.

Here is a example of what it could look like when added to the suite.

[Feature Request] Change PA.c Icon color

Submitted by starrysky on March 7, 2014 - 10:38pm

Changing the platform theme could alter the color of the Portable Apps icon that is used in the taskbar and/or the system tray. For example, changing to a green theme could make the icon tinted green; a light theme could leave the arrow lightly colored where a dark theme could make the arrow dark.

This could make it easier when there is more than one PA.c platforms running, perhaps one locally and one from USB. The user could have the default theme on the local install and a blue theme on the USB. It would be easy to tell them apart, even when they are hidden.

Suddenly Carbide 8GB will not open:

Submitted by beeje on March 3, 2014 - 12:08am

Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed.~~

the above is now the message I am getting when trying to open my Carbide as of 2 days ago. No problems prior since purchase in Dec 2013. It is showing as Unknown Device in Device Mgr but not showing in Windows Explorer. I have data on it that I must be able to access so returning it under the warranty for a replacement is not an option. why would this suddenly be happening and what is the possible solution?

Problem using on multi monitor setup.

Submitted by Andy22 on February 26, 2014 - 4:25am

Hi,

i use portable apps on multiple locations via cloud sync. The problem is that one location is a multiple monitor setup.

If i move windows to the secondary monitor and close portable apps, this change gets synced with all other settings. This effectively means that now some programs are "invisible" on the none existing secondary monitor on some of my other work places.

Is there a way to resolve this from portable app's? Atm i need to use UltraMon + hotkey to move those windows back.

thx
Andy

App launching process

Submitted by PortableUser2009 on February 4, 2014 - 5:47am

Hi John,

I am a little bit confused about the app launching process.
So this is what I did so far.

According to the documentation I created an application folder AppName for my app. In this I put my AppName.exe. After that I created sub folders App\AppInfo and App\AppName.
In the folder App\AppInfo I created a file appinfo.ini holding the settings for the appearance in the platform and the appicon.ico file.
In the folder App\AppName I simply put the file AppName.exe.
Now I created a folder App\AppInfo\Launch and there I created a file AppName.ini. This contains
