All apps fail to update

Submitted by the_coryb on May 8, 2014 - 9:43am

Hello,

For the last few months whenever I try to update my apps they fail. Every one I get this message: "The ProtableApps.com website is temporarily inaccessible due to maintenance and the app can not be updated. Please try again later. (File: [appname]_[version]_English.Paf.exe)." Which is an understandable error if it hadn't been this way for months. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Does the PortableApps Platform conduct any internal checks on the files it downloads?

I came across this forum post, https://portableapps.com/node/18388, about using the digital signature to check if a file has been downloaded correctly.

I will be travelling to a country that is known to seed incorrect files for known encryption products and browsers. i.e. If you try to download EFF's TOR, you will get a fake version of tor that will install malware instead. This is why there are PGP signatures on the website along with the downloaded files.

my review about papps

Submitted by Alceste on April 29, 2014 - 10:41pm

- peerblock is not working from c:/program files, such as libre office

good to know BEFORE installing papps.

- papps is often failing to connect application list from the website (no logic reason)

- file association is not working

- no way to start papps with windows

all theses things were promised by papps, so if there is no update to fix it ill just go back to framakey.

Is it possible to skip or exclude a PortableApp from being updated?

Submitted by jxf11 on April 29, 2014 - 6:38pm

I have a portable app, Firefox 28, that I don't want to get updated anymore.

I do not want to change it's path because that would require making adjustments in other apps and the registry to get http/https/url links to open correctly.

Can the PortableApps updater skip an app?

Thanks

Portable Fonts not working

Submitted by jarhead2000 on April 28, 2014 - 7:12pm

After downloading portable apps platfrom to kingston 8gb flash drive, i put a couple of otf and ttf format fonts onto the platfrom's font directory folder inside the Portableapps.com/data/font directory. However, after launching libreoffice from my flash drive, the new fonts did not appear in the fonts list. After a couple of hours, i tried again with no luck. The fonts don't appear on any other programs either. Please tell me how to fix this problem

Eject fails if drivetype = Fixed?

Submitted by shookmon on April 13, 2014 - 11:53pm

So I bought a new Sandisk Cruzer today and guess what? I can't eject using the eject button anymore, nor using the old eject script (that one complained about the device not being ejectable). So I look into it and using the old eject script's feature of showing what's running on the USB key, I see that the script has it marked as Fixed.

Canonical folders

Submitted by Ness on April 11, 2014 - 7:52pm

Hello all!

The platform menu (nice design, by the way!) has four standard folders on the right: Documents, Music, Pictures & Video. I would like to know if it is possible to:
– rename them;
– change their icons (on the folders themselves, and on the PA launcher).

Minor subsidiary point: changing also the Explore icon.

Thanks for your help!

Using Fonts Installed

Submitted by brista on April 4, 2014 - 11:44am

Hi! I am on Windows 7. I downloaded Portableapps.com because I want to install fonts on my work computer but it requires an admin password to do so.

I followed the directions found here but when I open Photoshop with Portableapps.com also open, the newly installed fonts are not showing up. I also closed and restarted Portable Apps and PSP, but again, no new fonts. Any ideas?

Thank you!
