I'll only have access to a restricted (concerning any installations) computer, but I would like to create a photobook for christmas. And therefore I would need the software. So if anyone of you could help me out, that would be great...

Program: Designer 2.0

License: Freeware

Description: Software for designing a photobook in germany

Website: http://www.fotobuch.de/software/designer_20/

Other: Should be the windows version. On my PC is WinXP prof. running.

Thanks very much in advance Smile

Submitted by ila.1a on December 5, 2008 - 11:27am

Hi it would be good if there was portable axiom program
it is open source computer algebra system
it has several "forks" - differrent ways of development.
one of sites is : http://axiom-wiki.newsynthesis.org/FrontPage
others are:
http://axiom-developer.org/
http://sourceforge.net/svn/?group_id=200168 - fricas - uses cygwin (for windows)
http://www.open-axiom.org/ - open axiom

axiom uses several graphical interfaces
one of them is Wintexmacs/texmacs
site is:
http://www.texmacs.org/
(win)texmacs works with axiom if certain file
(AXIOMsys.exe) is in the search PATH

Celtx for creative & colaborative projects

Submitted by aahhaa on December 4, 2008 - 5:22pm

Celtx is a free, multiplatform, & global Firefox-based program that on one end handles the print formatting needs of scriptwriters, media & event producers, etc; and on the other handles planning and promotion of many kinds of complex productions.
(Most programs of this type cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.)

It would be extremely handy to be able to carry Celtx around, most users wind up having it on several computers, with the resultant multiple versions of their work. It also is being used around the world by people who...well, aren't boring!:]

Chiming clock

Submitted by foxcole on December 4, 2008 - 11:17am

I was surprised I couldn't find anything like this online. I would like a desktop clock that chimes on the quarter hour (chiming incrementally like a grandfather clock so you can hear the specific hour, :15, :30, or :45) and that displays the current time.

Newzie is a great news reader that already runs portably (although I don't know if it leaves anything behind). It's not open source, but I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to create a launcher for it and make sure that it doesn't leave anything on the host computer. Here is the website: http://www.newzie.com/index.php and here is the license info: http://www.newzie.com/newzie_about.php?type=tou This is a great program.
