Portable Task Coach (or similar software)

Submitted by bbeckey on January 22, 2007 - 9:54am

I just came across Task Coach today. Honestly haven't tried it yet, but the standout feature is having 'composite tasks'. There are a lot of PIMs out there with Task Managers, but none of them seem to allow you to have a task made up of sub tasks (without going the project/open workbench/etc route... which is TOO much in some cases).

I used the installer and then just copied the program directory onto my flash drive... that seems to work, but I'll have to take it home to another computer to test it further.

Student Software Idea

Submitted by mperedithe on January 21, 2007 - 1:14am

Being that I myself am a student at college I had an idea for a product that a lot of users might like. As I said before I am a college student and as such I use PortableApps for managing my course work and studies. It would really be cool if someone wrote a flash-card program. Something that allowed students to create personalized flash cards for their various classes and then allow the student to be able to keep them sorted and go through them randomly or in a set order. If anyone knows of a program that already does this or would be willing to give it a go I'd love to know about it.

Bluefish Editor

"Bluefish is a powerful editor for experienced web designers and programmers. Bluefish supports many programming and markup languages, but it focuses on editing dynamic and interactive websites. See features for an extensive overview, take a look at the screenshots, or download it right away. Bluefish is an open source development project, released under the GNU GPL licence." ~~ http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/

I've used this a lot and I feel it would be a useful application for many others to use aswell.

Well It is half way, however the settings are stored in the registry and not in an .ini file or something similar to be able to port it. The source code to modify it is included on the authors home page for the program which is:

http://www.jfitz.com/software/RAMpage/

Link to the Source Code Direct Download is:

Free Hex Editor "frhed"

Submitted by NoTellin on January 19, 2007 - 3:21pm

frhed is a basic free hex editor available at: http://www.kibria.de/frhed.html

This is _not_ the malware with the same name.

Instead, it's free software released under the GPL and includes source. From the homepage:

    * Open Source! Distributed under GNU General Public License
    * Native 32 bit Windows application: long filenames supported, editable file size limited only by available system memory.
    * Small program size (ca. 100K), loads fast.
    * Cut, copy & paste binary values.

Read a Mac Disk/iPod

Submitted by dozzell on January 19, 2007 - 2:25am

Hi!

Is there /I would like an app that can read Mac formatted disks/iPods? Similar to Xplay/Xpod whatever it calls itself now?? Or is there another way of reading a Mac formatted iPod from windows?

Me and my girlfriend are travelling the world so never end up using the same computer twice, and the portable apps are really usefull when you can only get to shabby net cafes. Thing is, my iPod (which I use for the portable apps) is windows formatted, but stupidly, my girlfriend left hers formatted as a Mac so cant get more stuff on it - there arnt many Mac Cafe's.
