Bitvise Tunnelier for SSH tunnel/Socks proxy?

Submitted by dr4stic on November 3, 2006 - 3:18pm

Just thought I'd mention a program I've used a little called "Tunnelier". It's a great little package from bitvise that's free for personal use (and even some use within corp. env.). Not sure just how the license would work with Portable Apps, but I thought it'd be worth mentioning:

Among the cool features of this little package are SSH tunneling, full transparent FTP to SFTP translation (great given the number of FTP based portable apps in the dist), all sorts of local proxy service capabilities (SOCKS 4/5, etc), and command line sftp and ssh clients.

Scribus open source is available but seems to have development problems. From the screenshots available it looks very good. The download i did didn't seem to run - some .dll file missing. Anyone know of others.

Also Jarte 3.0 due soon is a portable version. Anyone interested in a feature rich rtf word processor with tabs. I've Jarte 2.0 (not portable app) for over a year now. It is probably of interest to those that have a longing for the tabs which i find particularly useful in my work.

I'd like a portable version of Hydrogen, which is an awesome FOSS drum machine. Still looking for a FOSS sibelius replacement.... *sigh*

Windows Explorer substitute

Id like to see something that would get around using windows explorer to use or browse files on my thumb drive. My work has explorer password protected so i am unable to get into any of the stuff i have on there. Firefox 2 portable, etc. They dont allow us to go online here and the thumb drives are the only way we can get around that. but i still would like to view my files. winguard pro 2006 is the program they use to lock us out.

Inkscape

I'd like to see Inkscape created as a portable app for Windows. I personally don't have the time or tools to create this, so anyone with free time on their hands -- this would be really nice. There's already one out there for the Mac, but I need one for Windows, too.

Thanks. -- ian
