I've actually tried this one. Copying and pasting winamp folder and transfering it to a usb drive...then pasting it to my disk space on my school's network. It opened and worked but I always got this message that some file was missing. Could you please look into that, would appreciate it. Thanks.

This seems like it shouldn't be too difficult to make portable. I'd very much like to not have to use FireFTP and ChatZilla via Firefox(because it takes a long time to load up on my portable drive -- I'm blaming the USB1.1 interface at work on that), and XULRunner seems to be the answer to that, but it makes entries in the registry and I don't know the first thing about making an app portable. If this has already been done and I somehow missed it in my search, I'd be glad for a shove in the right direction.
More often than not I have problems using Realplayer to play some streaming realmedia file. Often it cannot find the proper codecs or the codecs can't be installed (or else something else goes wrong). So I've stopped using Realplayer and started using Real Alternative (which works much better than the original). It would be great if this could be made into a portable app. It can be found at http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm
Something that would really make my life easy is a Dynamic IP Updater in a Postable App.
First of all I just want to say how much I enjoy this website and appreciate all the work of the many talented individuals who 1st wrote the software and 2nd those who made it portable. That said, I's like to share what's on my Portable Apps wishlist, so without further ado, my list is as follows:
StarDict Portable - Dictionary Software
Scribus Portable - Desktop Publishing
Grisbi Portable - Personal Finance Manager
Notepad++ Portable - Programmer's Text Editor
Celestia Portable - Astronomy App
MediaCoder Portable - Audio/Video Encoder
Ethereal Portable - Well known security tool
nmap Portable - Well known security tool
Would it be possible to build a portable GTK? This would be great to have installed once on the thumb drive and then any other portable apps running on the same drive would only need to point to the location of where GTK was installed. This would be great for Gaim Portable, Gimp Portable, Grisbi Portable, Scribus Portable, etc.
Hello,
Would there a be a codec pack that could be extracted to the jump or flash drive in the near future? Maybe something like a K-Lite Codec Pack? Any advise would be appreciated. The reason is that I have both VirtualDub and TMPG Encoder on my flash or jump drive minus the codecs.
Fantastic website and forum!
Thanks,
Peter!
I have this thing called VirtualBoy Advanced for pc and w/ that, you can run GBA and GBC (game boy) game roms, and i have Mario Brothers (The origional) downloaded. Could you make it so that VirtalBoy Advanced was portable? I tried to search around here but didn't get much.
Or is it portable already? I really don't want stuff being put on the other computers.
thanks
