LibreOffice Portable

Not starting any more?

Submitted by Servatia83 on January 20, 2014 - 2:19am

At my workplace we have Windows XP, at home I run LibreOffice and can't get myself to save in *.doc format. So I have a USB Stick with LibreOffice Portable, which worked perfectly fine until Friday. In the morning it started all right, later I closed the documents, and when I wanted to reopen them I was told something along the lines "Libreoffice requires windows or higher while you are running Windows ?". So I went to E:\LibreOfficePortable\App\AppInfo\Launcher and deleted the line with the minimum OS.

Update Notification

Submitted by Herb_ on December 27, 2013 - 5:35am

I'm using the portable LO on different boxes and start them up several times a day.
I'm doing this since the start of the OO/LO long time ago, can't remember when it was.

Whenever a new regular Version comes out from the foundation the update notification jumps out, although the portable version will take some time to be updated which is quite normal.

Is there a way to turn this update notifier off? I may have overlooked something here.

LibreOffice Portable on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64X Machine - Piss Poor Operating...

For some reason, I was extremely happy switching from Open Office, but now I am left to a non responsive program in both writer & calc... They just idle, non responsively; sometime's I force quit and they recover themselves and well sometimes I loose everything...

Not a clue I'm running the newest version, not to many extensions...

Clueless...

LibreOffice Calc 4.1.2.3 'Not Responding'

LibreOffice has generally worked OK for me, running from a USB stick inserted into various PCs, as designed.

However, after upograding to v4.1.2.3, I cannot load Calc files on my main Win7 Home 32-bit desktop (though everything works fine if used with a Win7 Pro 32-bit laptop). Calc 'Not Responding' (and never does); the CPU is only idling.

Bizarrely, this behaviour persists after complete uninstalls/re-installs even of previous versions of LibreOffice (that worked OK before!).

Cannot start LibreOffice after Portable Apps updated me to 4.1.2

Submitted by John van Someren on October 17, 2013 - 6:30pm

I had Libre Office 4.1.1 or something like that and Portable Apps platform showed me that a new version 4.1.2 was available. I let Portable Apps update me and all of the apps with Libre Office show this message when I try to start them:
QUOTE
The program cannot be started.
The service manager is not available.
("Cannot open directory file:///E:/PortableApps/LibreOfficePortable/App/libreoffice/program/services")
Start setup application to repair the installation from CD, or the folder containing the installation packages.

Installing LO on flash drive

Submitted by Dougt on October 13, 2013 - 12:27am

I have downloaded the LO Portable App twice, and installed on a flashdrive with room to spare. Three times the installation has failed - twice on a green exclamation.png and once on an italian file (even though I cancelled exra languages.) So it just stops.
The down load was through FireFox might this be the problem?
What can I do?

After update 4.1.1 does not start

Submitted by topu82 on September 3, 2013 - 5:51am

Hi all,

I just updated LibreOffice via PortableApps Platform to Version 4.1.1

It does not start any more. Taskmanager shows a task for some seconds, thats all, no splash screen.

I used "German" language settings. I hope you can fix this. If I can help with any more information feel free to contact me, please.

(I stepped back to 4.1.0.4 as fallback)

Greetings from Germany

LO Calc, How to delete certain rows in spreadsheet automatically

Submitted by cutie_pyie on August 10, 2013 - 3:03am

Hi all,

I am doing some taxes for some elderly people & I gave them a spreadsheet to use for charitable giving but now I need to edit it down and have a minor problem.

I need some kind/type of command that will automatically delete certain rows that do not have any items in them.
I know I could do this by hand but it certainly is labor intensive & I worry that I might delete a row through error that they need.
Is there a way to automate this process?

Columns A, B, & C are fixed items/values, Rows 7 & 8 of cols B thru H repeat later on down with different thing in A7.
