AbiWord: Difficulty with Spell checker

Submitted by symiggy on February 13, 2007 - 10:43pm

I have rather peculiar problem which I really cannot understand.

When I run AbiWord on my regular home computer, the spell check works normally as I would expect it to.

But when I run AbiWord Portable from a USB thumb drive while plugged into my regular computer, I always get the message: "Could not load the dictionary for the English (New Zealand) [en-NZ] language" and following this dialogue box, no spell checking is possible.

Hello Guys,

I am totally new to Portable Apps, that is suggested by a friend of mine to look at for our objectives.

We are working on an application where our .NET Framework 2.0 application is supposed to produce a word document (on fly) in response to users selections/actions. We are using a VPS that is discouraging us to install Word on server because of performance consideration and suggested us to look at Abi Word.

Sunbird: Relative path to ics-files?

Submitted by JanSchmitte on January 26, 2007 - 4:21pm

Hallo everybody,

first I wanna say THANK YOU!
Your effort in making all these portable applications must be enormous so I just wanna thank you... Wink

Now to my question / problem:

At the moment I'm setting up an event-sharing service for my association. For this I've decided to use Sunbird Portable.
Everything works great up to now. I managed to get the localised version (german) of Sunbird to be run by your starter. I created a default profile which can be distributed with SunbirdPortable.

Sunbird: Corrupt Data?

Submitted by Dunno on January 17, 2007 - 3:12am

I'm using Sunbird portable version 0.3
A few days ago SB worked just fine, untill today.

I opened SB and.. there were no events. So I checked up on the calenders. No calender was loaded. But, when i click "Export Calender" it shows me all of my calender files I normally use. I can't export the calenders though.

I have the minimize to tray extension, but after disable the extension it didn't bring my events back.

Sunbird Portable Not Displaying

Submitted by Blue Winger on January 16, 2007 - 9:19pm

I have installed Sunbird Portable and it displays correctly using Windows 2000, however, when starting the program on a Windows XP machine the calendar does not display. I have un-installed Sunbird Portable and re-installed but this does not solve the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

error running sunbird with wine on ubuntu 6.06

Submitted by oldturtle on January 15, 2007 - 2:56pm

When attempting to run Sunbird under wine on ubuntu 6.06 I receive the following error message in a window entitled:

Microsoft visual c++ runtime library

runtime error
then a reference to the path to Sunbird
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
The other portable apps from the portable apps suite run well under wine.[I'm composing this while viewing the forum using firefox portable].

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Sunbird Error

Submitted by tutva on January 10, 2007 - 10:07pm

I didn't see anything similar to my problem, so hopefully i'm not double posting. Sunbird installed fine with the suite on my Swissbit Victorinox thumbdrive and launches fine. I can use it fine, but after about 10 min. i get the "sunbird.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" popup. It's pretty regular, right about 10 min. everytime.

Has anyone had this same prob. or have any ideas?

Thanks.
