AbiWord: How much memory?

Submitted by Bill Garrigues on August 20, 2007 - 7:03pm

I am making decisions on the structure of a fairly large secure database for a "family registry". I can either:

Angel make the whole database one BIG file. This makes searching for a name much easier using the FIND command as it will automatically search the whole database at one time. This would be my preferred method.
Or
(B) Break up the database into a number of smaller files.

Sunbird: Network calendars not showing up on reload

Submitted by vole on August 2, 2007 - 11:01am

I'm using Sunbird Portable with iCal Exchange (icalx.com), and though it's worked previously, I'm now having trouble now with my network calendars.

When I subscribe to a calendar hosted on iCalx.com, all the entries show up perfectly. However, when I exit Sunbird and reopen, nothing shows up. When I tell Sunbird to reload my remote calendars, it sits and thinks for a bit, but nothing happens. If I disable one of my remote calendars, oddly, the data from my local calendar disappears.

Sunbird: "All day" not needed on monthly print

I've been waiting to upgrade until this bug is fixed, and it looks like it's been addressed in Calendar...but I'm not sure...

See comment number 6.

Any chance of it being fixed soon for Sunbird Portable?

Otherwise, I love this app!
thanks,
Leila

AbiWord: Default save directory

Submitted by bluedogranch on July 25, 2007 - 4:05pm

Is it possible to have a checkable option to set the default save location of a new document to the drive where AbiWord is located rather than the hard drive of the host PC?

Seems strange and unintuitive that when you're running a portable application the default save for AbiWord is to the hard drive of the host PC that you're trying to keep your files away from in the first place.

Ideas?

Adware in Sumatra??

Submitted by fisherman505 on July 23, 2007 - 8:08pm

Every time I open up Portable Sumatra, my Webroot Spy Sweeper immediately quaranteens Adware called "Maxifiles" which Webroot rates as "very high" on the severity scale.
Is Spy Sweeper making a mistake or does Sumatra have Adware in it??

Thanks.
