KeePass: Is it safe to carry around?

Submitted by Mover on December 18, 2007 - 9:58am

Hi,

As many of you guys and girls I carry around my usb disk with keepass and a file with some sensitive info on it.

However, I was realizing the other day that is not the best thing to do.

KP is open source so everybody can compile a new -and adapted- version of KP. They could modify it to store or send passwords. So, imagine this scenario:

-I'm at work but dying for some coffee. So, I lock my pc and go to the coffee machine.
-A sneaky person takes out my usb disk and copies his (her?) ADAPTED version of KP onto it.
-He (she) replaces the disk

ClamWin: Can't uninstall? Help please...

Submitted by tomudei on December 3, 2007 - 5:15pm

When trying to delete Clamwin folder I get an error stating:

Cannot delete ExpShell: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

The file is not in use, the disk is not full. Any suggestions on how to delete would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

ClamWin: What is the purpose of this app?

Submitted by Anthony A on December 2, 2007 - 2:08pm

Could someone explain what the purpose of this app is please. From what I am reading it doesn't provide active virus protection because it doesn't run resident on the thumb drive. So what does it do? Does it just do an on demand scan of the thumb drive? If so could you not just use a antivirus program that is already on the machine to scan the drive or am I missing something here? Thanks.

ClamWin: "The system cannot execute the specified program."

I can run my instance of ClamWinPortable from my USB key just fine at my workplace where I use a Dell machine with WinXP Pro in an ActiveDirectory domain on which I have local administrator privileges.

However, recently my home machine (WinXPsp2 Home, ASUS M/B, AMD 3500+) has refused to run ClamWinPortable complaining about the configuration. When I either try to download new virus signatures or simply do a scan I get the same dialog which displays the command that was to be executed and states that it can't do it because of system configuration.

ClamWin Portable won't start in Windows ME

Submitted by limextreme on November 6, 2007 - 8:35am

Hi! I have just downloaded ClamWin to scan my old PC for viruses. It was able to start without any bugs or glitches when I used it on my Windows XP computer but when I try to run it on my Windows ME, it won't start at all. I just see the splash screen, then it disappears but ClamWin doesn't appear at all. Is there something I need to do for it to work on Windows ME? I've tried using the launcher at the X:/PortableApps/ClamWinPortable/ClamWinPortable.exe and the executable in the BIN folder but still it won't run. Please help. Thanks in advance.
