C++ Problem

Can anyone help with a C++ problem?

I've compiled my program (apparently without errors), but it crashes when I try to run it. If anyone's got better debug functionality on their comp, a report of what went wrong will be very welcome.

The program in question is NCRC-Tool, my attempt at coding a PortableApps.com Launcher CRC-check bypass.
It reads in 2 values from an INI file, telling it:
1. Which executable (the launcher) to run, and
2. Whether or not to show an alert telling the user that it is running the file with parameter /NCRC.

NOD32Portable v2.70.xx (instructions only)

Submitted by wraithdu on December 6, 2007 - 1:33am

Being there is a shortage of portable AVs, I figured I'd finally get around to doing this one. Obviously it's not free or open source, so I can't post any files or compiled binaries. But if you own the product, here's how to run it portably. I got the basic idea from a plugin someone did for UBCD4Win.

The following instructions and script assume the normal PApps directory structure. This works with NOD32 v2.70.xx, not the newer v3.0.

These files go in the App\NOD32 directory.
Files needed from local NOD32 directory -

nod32.000
nod32.002
nod32.003
nod32.004
nod32.005

Please be quiet!
Last week we get new neighbors. They were brought in the night by the FBI to their new home, a houseboat. I've tried to make a theme of them, self-evident without faces.

StartPortableApps.nsi for testing environment

Submitted by rab040ma on December 4, 2007 - 2:15pm

I have been experimenting with some things, using StartPortableApps. So far I've found them useful, so I figured I'd post them here in case they might be useful to others. I'm posting them as .nsi source rather than an executable, because I don't want anyone mistaking this for a production or reliable version. Someone with NSIS installed can probably get this compiled in a couple of minutes (you'll need an icon file -- any will do -- or comment that line out).

Now that my semester of school is coming to an end, I'll have free time to resume development of CAFE Mod.

To get things organized and all in the same place, I'd like those who use CAFE Mod to post feature requests, bug reports, or translations in THIS topic.

It will be much appreciated and will make further development and improvement easier and faster.

To keep things organized here, please attempt to follow this basic format for posting

Subject : [Bug Report]
Body: [Detailed Description of Bug]

Subject : [Feature Request]

Portable JRE for Firefox / Registry virtualization

Submitted by tottle on December 3, 2007 - 9:37am

Hi,

I'm trying to get Portable Firefox to use a JRE that has been copied to my USB stick (I'm assuming that there is no JRE on the local OS).

Having looked around this site and Google I came across the following articles:

https://portableapps.com/node/439

https://portableapps.com/node/9371

They seem to suggest that Firefox looks at HKLM\Software\JavaSoft to locate the JRE. How can you "fool" Firefox into reading a different key (such as HKCU) or perhaps an ini file. Has anybody done this?

Portable apps -- writing settings

Submitted by sgbotsford on December 2, 2007 - 6:16pm

Possible addtion to the development guidelines page:

There is merit in having a choice in where settings are put.

If I'm using a USB drive, then it's MY drive, MY dataspace. Writing settings
to the application folder is fine.

If I'm using a network share with the idea I don't have to install the *#($&@(
thing on every computer in my network, then the last place I want settings written is the application folder.

some installs don't work

Hi !!!
As this concern two applications (may be more) and seems to be PortableApps related, i posted here

I work now on win2k admin account
I installed PA lite and patch 101 on my USB coskin 256Mo key

Every app works fine
I wanted to add some apps : 7Zip, KeePass and VLC

I used options install new app open paf
7Zip worked like a charm and the two others gave me some errors (0xc0000005) and corrupted installation...

I always unmount my key properly, and i tried several times erasing manually files and reinstalling (even 7Zip, who still working everytime)
