Firefox Portable

Hi,

I expanded FF - 3.6.8 for Linux on to a USB stick.

I am running this programme in concert with UBUNTU LiveCD.

It works well, but someone has told me that running FF from a USB has security implications.

Since I use this arrangement for banking, I would like another opinion, and possibly an explanation.

I have not installed UBUNTU because I only use it for banking.

I use FF from a USB stick so that I can update it.

I was doing some testing to find out if some of my favorite add-ons would work portably -- and most did -- but when I decided to uninstall them, restarting the browser caused the add-ons window to pop up saying that I had just installed them, and they remain in the add-ons list.

Do you know what could be causing this? Is there a way to manually remove the add-ons by deleting them from the drive? The add-ons that I am trying to uninstall are:

-Add To Search Bar
-Beef TACO
-Ghostery
-SkipScreen

I'm not sure how he does it, but in Germany, there's this guy that releases portable versions of firefox that can run simultaneously with other versions..

Would it be possible/simple for future versions here to be tweaked to do likewise??

I would like to run portable 3.6.8 alongside portable version 4 for testing purposes..

or alternatively, is there something i could tweak in your versions, to allow both versions to run side by side???

When I auto update FirefoxPortable 4.0 Beta 3 te Beta 4, it is okay. But once I reboot the computer, when I try to open Firefox, it says, xul.dll not found. please help!

There is an update for Mozilla Firefox 4.0. The latest Beta is now BETA 4. Please update!

Is that a known problem?

Sometimes when I start Windows 7 up, and then start FFPortable, the window never appears - according to the task manager the portable and FF are running - but window never appears.??

Der Profilordner soll auf einen anderen Pfad gelegt werden, also nicht als Unterordner von Firefox portable. Geht das? Wenn ja, wie? Danke

I want to place the profile folder outside the Firefox folder. Is this possible? If yes, how to do? Thanks

I want to run the stable and beta versions of Firefox portable together. I'm using, and liking, the Beta, but there's a website or two I use that don't work on the beta so I have to use the stable version for them.

The two versions use separate profiles, and I've set AllowMultipleInstances=true in the FirefoxPortable.ini in both. But still, if the beta is running and I try and launch the stable it brings up another windows of the beta. Closing the beta version makes the stable one come up fine (so it's not that I actually have two copies of the beta!)

i installed firefox portable on my usb card drive, and encountered a problem:

allthough i used this firefox flash installer which is available here, i have to keep using it everytime i switch computers, or the flash plugin wont work.

dont misunderstand me - i dont get an error message - its just that the flash components of a website wont load until i execute the flash portable installer.

i dont think that this was the plan.

anyone got suggestions?
