Windows PE and Firefox Portable 3.x.x

Submitted by balubeto on April 2, 2009 - 1:46pm

HI

I put in a USB stick, Portable Firefox 3.xx.

I started Windows PE 2.1, suitable to work with 64-bit operating systems, and I tried to start Firefox Portable writing, from the directory of that program, the command FirefoxPortable.exe but the shell of Windows PE writes "Could not execute the specified program ". Why?

Importing Bookmarks

Hi,

Im using FF portable 3.0.7, and the newest version (3.x) normally installed on HDD.

If i export the bookmarks normally as .json file from the HDD-FF, and then import them into the the portable one with Bookmarks-manager -> import -> restore... then after a restart the bookmarks are gone again.

Why is that? I found a posting here saying u can do it with the portable app suite, which i actually don't use right now, cause i only need like 3 PortableApps on my stick.

Whats the best way to do it? With the suite only?

regards,
NullDevice

Mutiple PW dialog boxes

Submitted by hverne on March 27, 2009 - 6:59pm

In the past, I used a batch file with XCOPY to keep copies of my Port FFox folder, on different thumb drives, synchronized.
I am now using Robocopy which deletes files not in the source.

However, I am sure due to old files not being deleted, when I load Port FFOX, I get asked for the master PW 3 times.
It appears as if there are, on the screen, 3 copies of the PW dialog.

Any suggestions for would be appreciated.

Is Winsock different for Firefox Portable?

Submitted by MagellanHansen on March 27, 2009 - 3:49pm

After removing malware ("Internet Antivirus Pro") from a friend's computer (XP SP3), the winsock catalog reported errors, which I understand is not uncommon. I've run half a dozen repair utilities, followed the manual instructions from Microsoft and third-party sites, and spent about six hours researching.

IE7, IE8, and FF3 are all unable to access HTTP (although HTTPS and FTP work), but Firefox Mobile runs just fine.

Does this indicate any kind of next step to anyone? What about Mobile bypasses the error?

Thanks,

weird problem after zipping firefox folder - All addons are broken & FF is freezing up

Submitted by goldenix on March 27, 2009 - 2:31am

I backed up my Firefox portable 2.0 folder to firefox.rar ( the archive is not broken )

I formatted my OS, installed XP again, extracted files & launched firefox. But none of my addons work suddenly. They all look like on this image: Yet they should be all green & working, cuz after I zipped it up I extracted & made sure everything was working.

I cant uninstall, change options, disable enable any addon, Firefox is freezing up if you try to change any addon options.

Need help with saving from cache

Submitted by davidm on March 26, 2009 - 2:35pm

Hi.

I have this flash animation running on my Firefox Portable. I want to save the swf file to my PC, but the website is down (have been down for hours now). The flash animation is still running in a tab.

I checked about:cache. The swf file is in the Memory cache device (Offline cache device is empty).

My question is, is there any way I can retrieve and save the swf from the memory cache?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

copy paste problem

Submitted by TigerTee on March 25, 2009 - 5:10pm

Whenever I use ctrl-c to copy a url or other text (even copied text from another application), and then use ctrl-v to paste it into firefox portable, the text is doubled = inserted twice. When I try pasting into other applications, it only pastes it once. Any suggestions?
