Bookmarks bar list horizontal display trouble after update 71.00

Submitted by gferri on December 23, 2019 - 8:53am

Hello
After updating 71.00 portable, the bookmarks of the favorite bar are displayed horizontally, preventing access to all bookmarks available. To get around the problem, I have to create and insert an empty folder as firts element of the list , so they are displayed correctly, i.e. vertically. Already tried to start Firefox with disabled add-ons.
I tried to get the previous version (I backup everything ...) and when update to 71.00 the problem occurs. Strange that it just happened to me.
Any suggestions to fix the problem?

How to update FFox Enterprise v68 to 69 or 70 (but not the latest 71.0) without new installation?

Submitted by hmp on December 16, 2019 - 9:33am

When I disable the enterprise policy, firefox will instantly try to update me to the latest version 71.0, but I only want to update to 69 or 70, but not 71.0, so how can I do that on an existing portable installation?

Is there a .mar file I can use to perform a manual in-place upgrade?

Possible to completely disable downloads in Firefox?

Submitted by Scorp on December 8, 2019 - 11:38am

So I've been using Firefox Portable version 55.0.2 for quite some time, and I'm very happy, thank you for the work you do.

I'm wondering, is there a way for me to "hack" the browser and completely disable the download box/dialog?

For example, see this picture:

Firefox obeys to local registry and i can't do what i want

Submitted by VanJackie on November 20, 2019 - 4:07am

I had firefox portable since a long time at work; some other day, a stupid admin decided to put some registry keys to disable some features of Firefox. Whenever i start it, it keeps going on some dumb "workplace intranet" i don't care about, passwords can't be remembered - nor used, and about:config show a lot of options as "locked".

Firefox Portable won't start when permisions for %AppData%\Mozilla and %LocalAppData%\Mozilla are set to decline.

Submitted by emplyver on November 12, 2019 - 10:53pm

The issue starts from Firefox 69 and persists on Firefox 70.0.1. It used to work properly on old versions. However, an error window prompts from version 69 saying my profile may be missing or cannot be accessed. Is there a particular reason why Firefox Portable have to access %AppData%\Mozilla and %LocalAppData%\Mozilla in order to start up? If those permissions are not necessarily needed, could you please fix this? Thank you!

Firefox Portable not running as local?

Submitted by Snippet248 on November 12, 2019 - 2:59pm

I have Firefox installed and despite closing it and opening Firefox Portable when I click on a pdf for example or an html file it opens the installed firefox instead of the portable one. I have not set "Multiple Instances" to true and I understand that being it disabled is the default. Do note I have updated the portable "installation" to the latest portable release.

Edit: forgot to add I'm running it in W7 x64.

TB lost FF portable file association after FF update

Submitted by mozfan on November 9, 2019 - 8:44pm

Once again FF updated automatically and removed all user controls over the process. This time, in addition to messing up add-ons, it also screwed up its default settings and would not stick as the default program. TB would not open FF Portable and resorts to the generic FF without my profile on PC. Time to return to a FF Portable old version? I'm sick of fiddling with "improvements" no one asked for! Last attempt at fixing it...

You've launched an older version of Firefox

Just upgraded and got the message

You've launched an older version of Firefox

Version is 69.0.3.7221, but compatibility.ini is:
LastVersion=70.0_20191016161957/20191016161957
LastOSABI=WINNT_x86_64-msvc
LastPlatformDir=C:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\App\firefox64
LastAppDir=C:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\App\firefox64\browser

So, no wonder.
But v70 at 16 October?

FIX: Rename/delete compatibility.ini

Portable Firefox Crashes

Submitted by dwtg7 on October 20, 2019 - 2:06pm

Why does Firefox Portable crash so often and what can be done to resolve it? I just loaded v69.0.3 and not five minutes into my new session it locked up and I had to restart it.

This has been going on for some time. I use Windows 10 and keep the updates current. My computer is less than two years old.

Thank You!
