Firefox 55.0.2 how to change taskbar icon?

Submitted by Scorp on October 4, 2019 - 3:00am

I use Firefox Portable 55.0.2 on Windows 10. I just spent about 2 hours looking for a way to change the taskbar icon. I want to set a custom taskbar icon for every instance of Firefox Portable that I run.

I tend to run about 5 Firefoxes at the same time, and it becomes hard to know which one is which. So I would like to set a custom taskbar icon for each, make the taskbar icon a simple number, and that will be that.

So my taskbar will look like this:

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Instead of like this:

FF | FF | FF | FF | FF

[Closed] Firefox Portable 69 stopped opening links from external apps

Hello to all, launching
"FirefoxPortable.exe www.google.com"
or
"FirefoxPortable.exe -url www.google.com"
used to work well, but for the last version of FF it started to output a message:
"Another instance of Firefox is already running. Please close other instances of Firefox before launching Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition."

Hi there.

I was wondering how do you set the default directory where files are saved, to the default "Documents" folder on a standard PortableApps installation file structure.

In my case:

My installation of

Portable apps Start.exe is on "E:/"

Firefox Portable is on "E:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable"

Default documents folder on "E:\Documents"

Pretty much standard.

Can't hide top tab bar

Submitted by woodslanding on September 14, 2019 - 3:45pm

I use firefox only because I can't live without side tabs. But using an addon for side tabs does not hide the top tabs.

There are numerous examples of css to put inside the userchrome file, but none of them seems to work with the portable version.

Has anyone found a way to do this? Does the portable installer need to be modified to make this work?

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Is it normal that Firefox Portable doesn't load plugins when I click on .url files?

Submitted by MrCrostataH on September 12, 2019 - 11:10am

Is it normal that Firefox doesn't load plugins when I click on .url files and also loads a separate website history and download history?
Is there a way to make so that firefox doesn't do that?
Sadly, I can not remove my plugins because they're really important.

"Open links in new tabs instead of windows" +1 more doesn't work

Submitted by stfnsn on September 9, 2019 - 2:16pm

Hi,
I just installed FF and configured everything (sync, bookmarks, plugins...) and everything works except two options:
- "Open links in new tabs instead of windows"
- "When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately"

First option is UN-checked but even so it works. I disabled that option but for some reason links keeps opening in new windows insted in new tabs.

Second option is UN-checked as well but browser just keeps switching me to new tab (window) when I open it.

I don't know how many time Firefox was trying to update even with the option auto update off (It change by itself sometime I don't know) so if it better for an app in PA.c format to not update by itself; then why not renaming App/Firefox/updater.exe by updater.exe-Disabled for being sure that firefox does nothing behind our back? Because it is happenning too many time this kind of case for me.
