firefox portable 2.0.0.5_en-us

Submitted by KermitT on July 25, 2007 - 10:30am

I have two devices. On one, I moved the existing firefox directory to FirefoxPortable.dec under the PortableApps. I added the new Firefox instance.

from my laptop, I was able to login, set preferences, install add-ons to the portable hard-drive.

Accessing the drive, via a permissions restricted Customer Site PC (Windows 2000), there was a message indicating that the security component would not initialize. Tracking down the error message indicated that it was trying to open profiles from under the C:\Document and Settings.

text search

Hi. a quicky about the text search function in firefox: when i type ctrl+F i get a fully featured search bar with highlight, previous, next option etc. If i just start typing the text i want to search, i dont get those option. annoying (it wasnt like this in firefox version prior to 2.0.0.2 i think).

anyways to get the fully featured search bar option by just "search as i type"?

Thanks

Autostart for Firefox on CD-R

Submitted by kallemania on July 24, 2007 - 11:40am

Hello everybody.

I've got the problem that it seems not possible for me to start PortableFirefoxLive from a cd-r using autostart.

I'd like to have Firefox starting on putting the cd-r into a drive. So I got the edited firefox.ini to run Firefox from a cd-r, copied the whole stuff to the root of the cd-r and used the following string in the autostart.inf:

[autorun]
open=FirefoxPortable.exe
icon=sicon.ico

So, if I put the cd-r in any computer nothing happens, only the dataexplorer pops up and shows me the content of the cd-r ... that's it.

FirefoxPortable will not start...

...at all. Neither will ThunderbirdPortable.

The splash screen appears. Then nothing. The app vanishes from the process list. Ditto for 7Zip. Notepad++ did throw an exception on the first try, but will start now.

FileZilla, Eraser and SumatraPDF work fine.

I'm using A SanDisk Cruzer micro 4GB USB stick.

Can this be a performance issue? At home I have an old 1,3GHz Celeron system with 768MB RAM with XP Professional (with USB 2, though). At the office computer the apps worked.

Second launch

Submitted by Klonk on July 19, 2007 - 10:38am

Hi,
the following problem:
I use Firefox at work (runs almost all the time).
And I want to use also Portable Firefox at the same time, but I get the message "another instance bla bla..".
I want to do this to keep my settings and bookmarks completetly separate, therefore the same browser should run twice.

Any ideas how to acomplish that?

Thanks for your help
