Firefox Portable

Default Browser

Why is there a default browser option when obviously it has no effect?

Also has any consideration been made as to how downloading updates may effect stability of the program?

Using apps on both computer and flash drive

Submitted by swruler on February 6, 2007 - 4:56pm

I love portable apps, but I want a way to be able to use the firefox on my computer, and sync it with the firefox on my flash drive, and vice versa - with all the settings and bookmarks (cookies too, if possible) I've tried many things, but nothing works. Is there a simple way to do this?

I would also like to do it with thunderbird and the other programs.

*new user* Copied profile's extensions and bookmarks doesn't appear when using portable

I just installed Firefox Portable (Win XP Home) on my Fly Drive.
I copied the entire content of my Profile Directory from %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles to the D:\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile folder. I deleted the FirefoxPortableSettings.ini file. When Portable Firefox opens it appears like a new version of Firefox, no bookmarks, extensions, etc.
What did I do wrong?
Thanks!

FFP under Win98 does not recognize FirefoxPortable.ini

I have a strange problem with FFP under Win98:

I renamed the launcher to Game2Go.exe, and also the executable in App/firefox from firefox.exe to FirefoxPortable.exe. In accordance to this I changed also the FirefoxPortable.ini which sits in the same directory as Game2Go.exe (=FirefoxPortable.exe) to that:
[FirefoxPortable]
FirefoxDirectory=App\firefox
ProfileDirectory=Data\profile
PluginsDirectory=Data\plugins
SettingsDirectory=Data\settings
FirefoxExecutable=FirefoxPortable.exe
AdditionalParameters=
LocalHomepage=htdocs\index.html
DisableSplashScreen=false
