Fire Fox portable NTFS system

Submitted by DRFP on February 21, 2007 - 5:20pm

I had put it on an USB HD I took the HD out of a computer and reformated it I had not idea NTFS would be a problem it seems it is It took me an hour to finally get the NTFS file system wiped off and make it a fat 32 drive, I used another fat 32 drive with all this Fire Fox Portable and it worked fine so I think your USB HD must be Fat 32 for it to work right.

firefox portable and viruses

Submitted by joemommapoo on February 21, 2007 - 10:17am

First post. Just found out about portable apps and I love it.

I was wondering if 99% of viruses come from the internet,(obviously an overstatement by me)if browsing the web with firefox portable if you are protecting yourself from viruses, etc from installing themselves on your pc. If you your are browsing the web with firefox portable and you do stumble on a Trojan, will it install itself on the pc or the usb drive?

Problem: Can not load web pages

Submitted by pharcyde3682 on February 21, 2007 - 7:12am

I've been trying everything I can think of but I can't get around this error:

ERROR
Proxy Error

The proxy encountered an error.

Please try again later.

The thing is, I used ProxyGet and it says that I don't have a proxy. I am at work and the only websites that open are the intranet websites. Can't even get into google, which works fine on IE here along with a few other sites.

Portable Firefox instances still on the site

Submitted by Jonathan on February 20, 2007 - 1:19pm

John,

There's still a few places where you use the terms "Portable Firefox" on the site. I'm not sure if it is intentional but I definitely found them on the following two pages:

https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/localization
https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable

You can use ctrl + f to find them. Just thought I'd let you know.

The installer DELETES YOUR BACKUP FILES !!

Very, very saddly, I have to report, that the current installer of the Firefox Portable 2.0.0.1 searches your drive and deletes other installations of Firefox.

Just a few minutes ago, I have installed the Firefox Portable 2.0.0.1 on my usb drive (into a folder named "FirefoxPortable"). On the same drive, in another folder (named "FirefoxPortable1"), there was my old installation of Firefox Portable.. Now it is entirely gone, the "FirefoxPortable1" folder is empty.. The settings, the history, the bookmarks, the extensions ..everythings deleted. I tried to undelete but it's of no good.
