Firefox Portable

I use Portable Firefox Portable (we're all in transition, here, aren't we?) and the SAGE extension for my RSS reader. How can I make Sage's variable CSS reference "portable?" My CSS files are stored on my USB flash memory drive. The CSS option in Sage nails the chosen CSS file to the drive letter. Of course, the drive letter changes as the flash drive is moved from PC to PC, so the CSS reference is lost (incorrect) and SAGE reverts to its internal default "CSS." I love PortableFirefox and use it heavily.

I was glad to see the new release.

I ran the extractor setup from this Web site, and coped my 1.0.2 \profile folder from my flash drive to the new Data\profile folder. I updated my extensions and everything ran fine.

Then I copied the FirefoxPortable folder back to my flash drive (an A-data PD2-1G0) and tried running FirefoxPortable. The splash screen appears but nothign happened. I waited 5 minutes. Nothing happened.

Firefox.exe is running, but the program never loads. I killed firefox.exe in task manager. I tried again, and it loaded, but in safe mode -no extensions, no themes.

I've just comleted the update to my USB stick, but when I try top start the new app it tells me it appears to be read only, and then offers to copy it to the hard drive to run. I've checked for read only directories and files and found none. There is no lock on the USb stick, as thunderbird continues to receive mail OK.

So where do I start to look to get this to function correctly again?

Answer:
In my .ini file I had all the paths indicated with a "/". Changing them to a "\" resolved the issue. Strange however that when I allowed it to copy firefox to the hard drive(before the .ini file fix) it still found the bookmarks, etc.

in my normal FF install i used cookie button along with the setting "allow sites to set ccokies" DISABLED in FF (privacy page). Then I just allow some sites to set their cookies.
It seems to work ok with PFF, except with google.

Im in france, so the default google page is google.fr, which i dont want.
So i select "google in english" on the google.fr page, and that directs me to the proper google.com page, but ONLY if I enable "allow sites to set ccokies" on the privacy page. This shouldnt be needed (and isnt needed in FF) as the cookie from google is stored, as i allowed it with cookie button.

I would like to use pff in place of my "normal" ff, cos im tired of having to backup things (with mozbackup) each time i do a system restore (or a ghost restore), which i often forget to do.

I would just like to know how i could make a registry file, to register pff as my default browser, so that whenever an html file is clicked or whatever, pff is launched (well i know i can do this by choosing ""open with"->pff"...), and also get all proper associations which are done when you click (with normal firefox) on "choose ff as my default browser".

I downloaded Portable Firefox 1.5.03 months ago and I used the Help->Check for Updates to update to 1.5.05. Did Firefox really update to 1.5.05? or am i still using 1.5.03? I also updated my u3 version of Firefox using the same method.

Is there any method/tool recommended to reduce the chance of someone picking up my keyboard banking access data?

I figured out what has been happening. when portable firefox loads, it slowly shortens extensions.ini. while waiting, i can see extensions.ini has 20 entries, then a little later 15 entries, and in the end 0 entries. is there a reason it does this? also, sometimes it doesn't list my disabled extensions. when i copy the portablefirefox directory onto the computer, everything works fine. any advice?

I've searched in the forums and tried to make some of the changes described but have yet to successfully achieve what I'm after.

I want to be able to use my PFF on my flashdrive so that there is no evidence left on the computer I plugged it into. This is ideal for vacationing, libraries, friends and family computers, etc.

Currently, the only remaining evidence I've seen is that it continually creates a folder dir on the computer's hard drive of Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\ that contains an empty Profiles folder and a pluginreg.dat file.

Can someone very simply explain how to prevent this if it's possible? I say very simply because I think I found another post explaining this but was pretty lost in trying to work through it.
