Plugin - Lorex "WebComponents.exe" for remote viewing of security cameras

Submitted by reenaj on May 22, 2013 - 9:22am

I have a Lorex NVR security camera system that I want to view remotely, however I don't have admin rights on my desktop at my office, nor do I have access to the plugin folders on the desktop. I have the download WebComponents.exe from Lorex, however have been unusuccessful in trying to install it. I installed the plugin on a home computer and brought in the files from the Firefox plugin folder and dropped them into the portable app plugin folder for Firefox, however that didn't work either.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
Maureena

Can't install flash

Submitted by ryan112ryan on May 21, 2013 - 5:01pm

I have searched all over the place for how to get flash working on firefox portable. All the directions I have either haven't worked or the links to particular files are broken.

I'm on a work computer where It restricts admin access and I am at a total loss on how to get this to work. There is a lot of talk about you need to copy files to the "plugins" folder, but it isn't there in my files. I have also hear people saying copy in .dll files or .xpi files and I don't have copies of those and they aren't on my computer because they are centralized on our work network.

Adobe Acrobat

Whenever I have to update Flash Player, I update locally and copy files in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash to E:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins. It reports that Adobe Acrobat is out of date and vulnerable. I cant work out where the files are and what I need to change and where to put them.
Many thanks.

No longer necessary to overwrite installation directory for upgrading? Help > About Firefox > Check for updates... also works !?

Submitted by cervo on May 15, 2013 - 10:29am

Hello,

I've got a little confused since it seems no longer necessary to overwrite the installation directory for upgrading Firefox Portable.
As a matter of fact, the "normal way" to update it (Help > About Firefox > Check for updates) effectively leads to an updated version after a relaunch of FF. Now my question : is it really equivalent, or are there any files that are replaced in the user profile or at another place (or maybe some that won't be updated at all) ?

Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards. Cervo

Found a bug, not sure if anyone encountered it already. But while I was trying to figure it out, I tried searching for this error and couldn't get any help. I eventually figured it out on my own.

Here is the error:
Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

Here is my environment, not all of it matters, but I will just put it anyway.
