strange action with Mozilla Firefox® ESR, Portable Edition
Version 128.8.0 for Windows 7 x64, English
I found my 115.15.0 esr (64-bit) was saying message about updating due to need to verify extensions....
so I downloaded the Version 128.8.0 as above, and started that..
nothing seemed to happen, but now my 115.15.0 esr (64-bit)
is now having no problem with 'verifying extensions'...
no idea why firefox portable shows now site cookie settings all in same color.
the whole buttons are in same color, example black.
you cant recognize the setting, yes or no.
no idea whats wrong.
one tech site settings, i get not so often cookie requests.
its very bad as i have to set it.
tried other windows themes and user customized but doesnt help.
firefox setted to use windows theme.
any ideas what the hell is with it?!
million thanx!
i had to quick stop portable firefox to use huge system ressources, also drive space!
out of disc space...
i'm thinking/asking (myself) if some setting or profile problems, or whatever makes it to use and/or block disc space.
i have to check if it saves some cache unasked on system drive.
this is first idea...
2nd idea, saving/using system space as/like ram...
first check shows some GB of crash reports and default profiles...
I'm looking for:
v115.13
v115.14
v115.15
And I can't find them anywhere. All I can find is v115.20 which is the last one for W7
how do you make firefox portable get back to use portable profile instead of being default system browser? no third party tools in use.
like trying to get back from this false profile on the system, as setted as default browser without a third party tool:

many thanx!
I have Firefox portable setup on a separate drive so that I can use the same browser instance on my laptop and desktop by copying the folder between the 2 machines.
If I start Firefox from a shortcut that points to the EXE file in the PortableApps folder I get one profile with a set of bookmarks etc.
If I click on a shortcut on the desktop that is a link to a webpage, then I get a different profile that does not have the same bookmarks.
Is there a way to have Firefox only use one common profile ?
as firefox portable starts by using the desktop shortcut but gives only error window by trying to start a link from an app...
i think firefox maybe sets some setings in system which it doesn't find anymore or...
or he don't find the right firefox as i found at least 3 of them, with separate directories.
i deleted one, situation unchanged.
maybe that's the problem or both, including a drive problem.
i hope i can first check this, as don't get as quick to check the drive. too much at moment.
many thanx!
EDIT
shouldn't firefox open help links in open browser window instead of try to start new one!?
sadly the use as system default not working anymore.
so clicking on the links in apps generally not working and most anoying in the last menu with all the links to devs help sites, for translators, etc.
had to change the system link to it or change it in system.
the few ideas in forum are very around the corner and huge.
hope i find the simpliest old trick working since ever.
Maybe it's a general issue, but it seems to happen especially with Firefox.
Some of their updates are critical yet it can take more than a week between the time PA writes "mirroring..." until they're downloadable.
Even more so, Firefox is very intrusive in promoting new releases. So this means constantly shutting off their notifications for over a week.
