I know we can use the Master Password to protect profile passwords, but I was wondering how other users 'secure' their own copies. I'm not doing anything yet, but was considering using Cryptainer. What do you guys prefer to keep your Firefox secure?
I already tried to run a search for this and couldn't find anything.
I updated to PFF 1.5 this last weekend, and this is the first chance I've had to try it out. But right up front I noticed two major annoyances. The first is has to do with the layout. There is a blank toolbar beneath the one that has the back/forward/refresh buttons on it. And also a massive chunk of unused space beneath the status bar. If anyone knows how to remove those spaces I would appreciate some assistance.
The second one has to do with the context menu. Over the last year, or however long it has been since I discovered PFF, I have become dependent on one particular feature of it. The search function within the context menu. Unfortunately it seems to be missing in this new version. I have had no luck tracking down an extension that would add that functionality. What options do I have for regaining that feature? If it would be necesary to create an extension, then it might be an opportunity to add image/quote/lyrics search functionality while I was messing around in there.
Is it really impossible to display correctely sites that need Java VM with portable firefox without installing it?
With IE already installed in the PC there is no problem in visualizing these sites..
I have looked for a while on a simple and quick way to run Portable Firefox from a CD in any version of windows. The LiveCD batch file works great for XP but not for Win98, which I still find myself having to use occasionally. I came up with a simple solution, and I'm sure I'm not the first: to make PortableFirefox a self-extracting archive, have it extract to a temp drive, and then automatically run Portablefirefox.exe. 7zip works great for this, and I had PF 1.07 loading quick and reliably from CD in practily any version of windows. This saves space since the files are stored on the CD compressed and decompressed on the hard drive, and there's very little difference in the loading times.
Is someone able to tell me why the integrated search feature on my PFF 1.5 works fine EXCEPT for the Google option. I select google search from the list and enter in a search string, instead of then displaying the resluts page it just takes me to Google's homepage. This is quite annoying actually since I find Google superior to all the others.
Also when it takes me to the Google homepage the page is in Chinese, I assume this is because I'm currently living in China, but I'm not Chinese. So how can I get it to give me English?
Cheers,
gabe
