Why does mirroring take so long each time there's a new release?

Submitted by lwc on February 5, 2025 - 3:34pm

Maybe it's a general issue, but it seems to happen especially with Firefox.
Some of their updates are critical yet it can take more than a week between the time PA writes "mirroring..." until they're downloadable.

Even more so, Firefox is very intrusive in promoting new releases. So this means constantly shutting off their notifications for over a week.

Firefox Portable Download error

Submitted by Miroo on January 12, 2025 - 7:55am

Hello,

I created a general topic in case someone else has noticed (or will notice in the future) an issue with download for another language or future version, due to NOK download link.

For me the problem occurs with Firefox 134.0, Polish language version. Not able to download via PortableApps.com update app or via link on PA project page, I get error connecting with „downloads.sourceforge.net”. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

Thanks in advance for looking into that!

p.s. direct download from SourceForge works well

FirefoxPortable.exe "Firefox is already running but is not responding".

Hi,

the FirefoxPortable.exe in the folder causes the message "Firefox is already running but is not responding" when clicking the firefox icon to open a second firefox window. I "fixed" this problem copiing an old FirefoxPortable.exe in the folder.

LastVersion=133.0.3_20241209150345/20241209150345

Not a portable app

Submitted by mfaine on December 21, 2024 - 11:55am

I just started up Firefox portable ESR and noticed that sync wasn't working after further investigation it seems it's respecting group policy and it's writing to the registry. If it's doing that then I don't see what the point of it it? It's not a portable app. It should only write settings locally to the same directory and never to the registry. It should not respect GPO policies, Intune, etc.

Environment variables in FirefoxPortable.ini

Submitted by Hektor_Paris on November 10, 2024 - 12:59pm

Hello,
I wonder if it is possible to use environment variables in path name in the FirefoxPortable.ini file, for instance %username%, %appdata%.
There are several profiles on the family PC and I would like to save each profile datas in the specific %appdata% directory.

I tried to set the "ProfileDirectory=" in the FirefoxPortable.ini file that way :
ProfileDirectory=..\..\..\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\FFdirectoryName\Data\profile
... but it didn't work.
