Firefox Portable

Hi, since version 109, FF started to have problems with the auto update feature.
If I go to About menu entry, FF tries to check for updates online and, after a while, it replies with this message: "Failed to check for updates".

Strange thing: when I open FF the symbol for a new update availability appears on the command bar option button (a green circle over the three lines). But if I follow the advise, FF offers to download the new version to manually update it.

When I unzip my FF Portable Installation, it's rather large, 210G with 46,594 Files and 31,274 Folders.

I deleted the cache before making the installation, what else can I remove? The unzip time is about 20 minutes because of all the tiny files being extracted.

it runs fine after loading, it's just that what I have isn't really portable.

Running Win 10 64 bit.

If I start Firefox Portable from the start menu, the profile in the Data directory of the Firefox Portable installation is used. If I click on a link in an email, a different profile in my user directory is used. How can I change this to make sure the same profile is always used?

Downloading by Updater causes an error. or 2 kB/s, and a few hours of remaining time. This also fails after a few dozen minutes.

I tried v108.2, v108.1, and dev v108.3. All of them failed to unpack on "omni.ja".

However it seems I can unpack the files manually just fine with Total commander, or 7-zip.

It finally got updated after some years, but since it's not a standalone app, it only appears in https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#second_profile and thus doesn't mention what was actually updated. Can you please mention it here?

1. My ebay search add-on defaults to ebay UK while I'm in the US. Ebay US search is not listed in add-ons. How can I change to the ebay US?

2. Recently google pop-up "sign in with g" started appearing on many websites. I tried turning them off in g settings and set it to block pop-ups, but they still pop up! No blockers work in FF while the same pages in Brave are g-free. How can I block g once and for all?

1. Nearly all addons stop working every time I restart Firefox.
I have to manually disable and re-enable each addon to make them working again.

It takes considerably long time the first time I load the first website after I restart Firefox.
Also it may suddenly hang after using for a long time.

What's up? How could I fix them?

2. I would like to transfer all settings, cookies/local storage, addons (settings and files etc.) to a fresh copy of Firefox portable, to see if those issues would be fixed. What should I do? Which files do I need to backup?

FF 102.3.0esr (64-bit) says 'You are currently on the update channel' but doesn't update. I see 102.5.0 is available. Originally said policies managed by organization. Enterprises Policies. I Deleted [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox]. Enterprises Policies now gone, but message hasn't changed nor can I update.

If you used one of a handful of versions of Firefox Portable, it may have created a local shortcut for Firefox Private Browsing. This was fixed in Firefox Portable 106.0.3 Rev 2. To remove the shortcut from your local PC, you can use the Remove Firefox Private Browsing Shortcuts utility.

You can also manually delete it: right-click on it in your Start Menu, select More, and then Open File Location. You can then delete the shortcut from there.
