Firefox Portable (3RC1) $TEMP writing

Submitted by Shakalaka on May 25, 2008 - 1:48pm

Generally, during use firefox tries to write to the host machine's $TEMP folder. I would like to disable this, to avoid any risk of an undelete spying. Most data that ends in $TEMP is temporal files, whose contents I don't know. But I don't want anyone to see I watch videogame speedrun videos (some people using those computers would not like that, think of Jack Thompson-y mentality, and also general privacy).

Rename Executable FF3RC1?

Submitted by NancysBrother on May 24, 2008 - 12:58pm

Hello,

The PortableApps FF2 allowed you to rename firefox.exe and then edit an ini file to specify its new name.

This was the only way I could get FF to run at work; without renaming the executable, the network antivirus program would delete firefox.exe from my memory stick when I tired to launch it.

I can't figure out how to rename the executable for FF3RC1 and still have FireFoxPortable.exe run it.

Thanks for your help.

Portable "Profiles"?

Submitted by Mgamerz on May 21, 2008 - 7:27pm

Seeing as this is one of the bigger portable apps (as in most downloaded), and it's portable, wouldn't it be a nifty feature to have 'Profiles'...

, like proxy settings and stuff? I go from my school to my IT center, and I always have to change the proxy settings. That'd be a really nice feature to have.
(I don't know where to put this.)

hello all!

i just downloaded firefox portable and am super excited because i'm on a huge backpacking trip and using tons of unfamiliar browsers and looking up bank accounts and such is a pretty scary thing. this will be the perfect tool!

i'm currently on a friends computer and have downloaded the app. but can't seem to get it to work. the browser opens up but just won't connect to the internet. but i can still surf internet explorer at the same time. what's going on?

i'm on a private home network so there are no firewalls or anything...

Safe for work?

I'm wanting to get my wife to start using Firefox Portable while at work.
She works as a typist and needs just a little help from the built-in dictionary/spell-checker to lower the "errors" she's been getting...

They have a strict policy about installing anything and/or making changes to company computers.

My question is, does FP leave ANYTHING behind (the FAQ only mentions the browser cache), in the registry for example?
