Add-ons and themes don't work everytime I use FFP with different computers

Submitted by tak on April 9, 2008 - 11:37pm

FFP2.0.0.13, XP and Vista.

First, I installed FFP to my own computer. I was in rush so I didn't try to run the program at that time. Then, I tried to run the program on my work computer. It ran, but none of addons and themes are working properly. So, I reinstalled the program in different folder while keeping the original installation folder in the same drive. Then, I installed all addons and themes from scratch and it worked perfectly with my work computer. The story didn't end here.I tried to run the program on a computer in my school's lab, but none of extensions and themes work again!

Homepage Settings Changed?

Submitted by joesmith07 on April 9, 2008 - 10:28am

For some reason, when I started my Firefox Portable today, my homepage settings wre changed with one window opening and 2 tabs displaying. I think one tab was the default Firefox search page, the other was a page explaining Session Manager). When I opened Firefox later, the same thing happened. Then, later I downloaded a file and upon completion, the file displayed in the Download Pop-up box (I used to have my settings NOT remember downloaded files). Also, in the privacy tab, Firefox was no longer set to clear my private data when I close Firfox (another setting I USED to have).

Firefox Waiting Problem

Submitted by anacondasnake on April 7, 2008 - 4:04pm

I have a problem with Firefox that's been for something like a month now...

When I start Firefox, websites load fast, nice and smoothly.
After a while, pages take a long time to load (sometimes wait for 5mins and nothing is loaded). All what I get is the loading circular progressbar in the tab.
Also, when I have multiple tabs running at the same time, I may get the same problem.

Usually, for me to solve this problem, I "End Process Tree" and reopen Firefox Portable then restore session (to avoid the loss of the contents of the other tabs), and then the webpage opens.

"Dangerous" Annoying Auto "Checking Compatibility of Add-ons" update, though update check is disabled :S?

Submitted by blahblah on April 6, 2008 - 10:05am

Hi...

When updating to the latest version of FF3 B5, portable style, as described here: https://portableapps.com/node/12311 I often at first-time-startup/opening get this window: http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/752/autoupdatelw2.png

If your not fast enough (I wasn't the first time, but now I'm always aware) to press the 'cancel', then when Firefox opens, all your extensions not compatible will be disabled. Son of a Bitch! Sad (sorry, but this is really annoying)

Would it be possible for you to make portable versions of Mozilla Firefox Campus Edition? I know that students who visit and use this site may find that useful because it comes preloaded with the addons FoxyTunes, StumbleUpon and Zotero. A little less work for them since then they wouldn't have to go find and download those addons. Just an idea.

Bookmark locations on the memory stick?

Submitted by crite on April 4, 2008 - 7:51am

I have tried to search for this but did not find anything. I apologise if this is a repetition.

Is there any way in Firefox to add a bookmark for a location on the memory stick? Obviously the main issue is that the mount point for the memory stick varies, so there is no fixed path?

An alternative would be the ability to add custom shortcuts to the portableapps launcher, to allow you to launch the portable firefox and thus pass a relative path in the command line to the document on the memory stick.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Firefox 'About' version numbers and updates question

Submitted by blahblah on April 3, 2008 - 3:31pm

Hey...

If you go to 'Help' -> 'About ...' in FF:
In the latest FF 3 Portable Beta 5, the version number is:
rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008-03-26-20 Firefox/3.0b5 ("-"'s added by me)

In my previous installed FF 3 Portable Beta 5pre trunk it was:
rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008-03-29-04 Minefield/3.0pre ("-"'s added by me)

And in the latest trunk from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ it is:
rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008-04-03-05 Minefield/3.0pre ("-"'s added by me)

Firefox 3, Download Folder Link Not Displayed?

Submitted by arizona480 on April 3, 2008 - 1:09pm

I like the additional detail in the "Downloads" window box as well as the search feature, but why was the link to the "download" folder removed on the bottom as well as the "cleanup" button lower right-hand corner? That was always a handy feature in FF2. I'm sure an extension down the road will be available, but it seems that it should be a standard feature. I'm playing with the beta 5.
