Submitted by newbie23 on April 14, 2008 - 12:23pm

Hello,

i was wondering where Firefox stores the window setting.

When i maximize the window close Firefox and start again the windows is maximized again.

Can someone tell me where these settings are stored.

takes time to switch tabs and don't stop running.

FFP 2.0.0.13

The title says everything. It takes probably 3-4seconds to switch a tab to another.
i have installed tab Mix Plus. Is that the reason? But I have really got used to Tab Mix Plus and hope not to disable it.

Also, even though I close the program, FFP is still running so that I can't take my USB drive off. I know I can stop a program by using task manager, but computers at my college won't let me open the task manager by hitting ctrl+alt+delete for a security reasons, I guess. What is going on with FFP?

firefox portable live cd helper app mime types

Submitted by paleozogt on April 13, 2008 - 1:56am

According to the firefox portable support page, firefox supports configuring mime types for other portable helper apps. It also says that firefox portable supports running from a cd.

While the portable helper apps configuration will work on writable media, it breaks once you run firefox on read-only media. Specifically, it breaks when you use the FirefoxPortable.ini file (as described in the firefox portable live directions).

Backup

Submitted by anacondasnake on April 12, 2008 - 5:45pm

Hi all,

Previously, I had a post regarding my Firefox getting really slow and pages take ages to load, and in a lot of cases, don't load in the 1st place...

What I want to do is run a new Portable Firefox, but want to backup my information from this current one...
How can I backup the following:
- visited websites
- saved usernames/passwords
- installed extensions (instead of having to reinstall all of them again)

For Bookmarks, as far as I recall, its from "Organize Bookmarks", then Export or Import...

How can I backup/Restore the above mentioned data in Firefox?

Firefox Cache

Submitted by Legace on April 12, 2008 - 3:59pm

On the link below, you can learn to change the directory of the FF cache.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.cache.disk.parent_directory

I have made it so, that FF portable (I wan't to minimize the number of writes to the flash disk) uses C://Cache as it's cache directory. Is it possible to make a .bat/NSIS file that will delete the Cache directory when run.

Thanks in advance.

FireFox3 Beta 5 Portable "Stuttering"

Submitted by mwaldron on April 11, 2008 - 10:26am

Is anyone else experiencing what I can best describe as 'stuttering' or 'jerkiness' when using FF3B5P?

It appears to happen mostly 2-3 seconds after opening or reloading a page, and the entire FF browser hangs for 3-5 seconds. Then it comes back up and everything is OK and it continues to run fine, until the next time it stutters.

I suspect this has something to do with disk writes. I've been watching my thumbdrive's LED and FF3 appears to beat on my drive hard.

I have not run any of the previous releases of 3 so I am not sure if this behavior is new to B5 or not.
