Firefox Portable

Our company recently added "Blue Coat" security to its network. For those who don't know, it's kind of like "Net Nanny" for employees: It prevents access to many websites the employer thinks you should not be visiting at work.

Anyway, after they did this, my FF portable no longer works! After launching FF as usual from my usb drive, a Windows XP authentication window pops up and requests "Enter User Name" for an unknown url at our facility, and a "Password". This window cannot be closed. I must terminate the FF process.

Any help with this would be appreciated!

i got d message that i have to update. but what version do i got then. your portable version or the larger not portable?

Does not write to the registry but upon uninstalling firefox 1.5 and cleaning all the junk out of my PC I tried firefox portable 2.0-puts folders everywhere(documents and settings/application data - local settings/application data) there are mozilla folders in both places....

My Question is I thought this portable app kept settings within it's own folder?? Not complaining mind you jut wondering....If you were to move it to another PC it would do the same??

Thanks to John, I'm just getting into the wonderful world of portable apps and have got a nice chunky environment working on my 4GB USB drive. However, in passing, I've just noticed one small possible glitch affecting Firefox Portable and am wondering if it's me being stupid or a real happening.

As we all know, the Location Bar will do a google "I'm Feeling Lucky search" if you type in a URL portion. For example, typing in "digitalspy" takes you directly to www.digitalspy.co.uk. However, when I try this using Portable Firefox, it does not work.

I'm running 2.0.0.4 off a 1gb USB drive and have never had any trouble with it before. This week, I received a new computer at work and now Firefox freezes about every 30-40 seconds. I started from scratch, thinking perhaps the file was damaged, and also took all of the measures to improve performance on the support page.

Do you think it could be my USB drive, or is it something on the new computer?

Maybe this is a feature....

... but when I shut down Firefox I can still see firefox.exe running. If I disconnect the drive and simulate a shutdown of the computer by killing firefox.exe and the reconnect the USB drive and start up Firefox it gives me the warning that Firefox did not shut down properly and the "Restart session" and "Start new session" buttons.

Why doesn't firefox.exe end when I close PortableFirefox? Is this a bug under Win2k or is it doing this on WinXP as well?.

Hi-nice program but there is no email button you can add-why? I am using this on my local drive so I can test newer versions of firefox without installing...

Hi Everyone - I am making an "Electronic Brochure" on CD I downloaded the "ini" to enable firefox to read from a CD tweeked thi INI file "local home=" works just fine opens site NO ACTIVE X warning
HOWEVER when you navigate to the "video tutorials" page and click the link for the .wmv files firefox says "can't find///E/Video_Tutorials/settinggoals.wmv

Has anyone else ever been able to make firefox open windows media player with a video?

If so how?

I just downloaded firefox potable and followed the instructions for bringing the setting from the version of firefox on my home computer to my portable version. Everything worked great except now my origanl copy of firefox has lost all of its exstensions and won't connect to the internet because it says the proxy is blocking it.

Is there any way to get it back to the way it used to be because I had some 40 extension installed and I really don't want to have to go back and reinstall them.

I updated PFF once but I had to delete and reinstall PFF and can't remember when I did before and it does not install directly yet and "YAHOO" ain't responded to my request yet can some one give me the xpi file for it!
