Hi Everyone - I am making an "Electronic Brochure" on CD I downloaded the "ini" to enable firefox to read from a CD tweeked thi INI file "local home=" works just fine opens site NO ACTIVE X warning Smile
HOWEVER when you navigate to the "video tutorials" page and click the link for the .wmv files firefox says "can't find///E/Video_Tutorials/settinggoals.wmv

I have tried every configuration I can think of ...

Has anyone else ever been able to make firefox open windows media player with a video?

If so how?

Lost Extensions.

Submitted by mlah on June 18, 2007 - 7:42pm

I just downloaded firefox potable and followed the instructions for bringing the setting from the version of firefox on my home computer to my portable version. Everything worked great except now my origanl copy of firefox has lost all of its exstensions and won't connect to the internet because it says the proxy is blocking it.

Is there any way to get it back to the way it used to be because I had some 40 extension installed and I really don't want to have to go back and reinstall them.

FFP Installation Problem

Submitted by tonyt on June 17, 2007 - 1:16am

Hi People,
I've d/l ffp directly to my thumb drive. The d/l file size shows 25KB instead of 6MB.
Upon opening the file, a DOS prompt window along with a seperate error message popup titled "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem" with "The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. Choose 'Close' to terminate application.".
I've an option to ignore or close the app. Choosing 'Ignore' will only see the dos prompt running randomly in the dos window.
Anyone has any comments to this situation.
BTW, its the same for Thunderbird Portable.

Changing homepage from CD at runtime

Hi there,

first of all I want to say how great the portable solution is.

We plan to develop a CD-ROM that will use Firefox Portable. Via autostart we launch a custom SplashScreen, where the user can choose a language for the content to be shown with FFP.

My question: is it possible to say FFP to have different homepages depending on the language the user chose? Remember, this will be a CD-ROM, so no chance to write any prefs or something...

Thank you and best regards!

Firefox crashes on start up

Submitted by rrostie on June 14, 2007 - 3:30pm

I downloaded and installed Firefox Portable several moths ago, but it has since stopped working. Before I updated it, nothing would happen at all, now it just crashes after a few seconds.
I usually took the USB key out of the computer without closing the browser and it would reload the last session before it stopped working.

Slow Bookmark updates

Hello there,
as it has been noted on https://portableapps.com/node/2118 already, bookmark updates are somewhat... well a dead turtle is slow, but taking 70 seconds to write a 350 kB bookmarks file is not just slow, it is excruciating; never been so close to punch my laptop before.

And everytime you do something in the Bookmark Manager, even if you just try to drag a folder somewhere else (but fail), you will have to wait for over a minute.

Splashscreen (FirefoxPortable.jpg) ...

... shows the string "Firefox., Portable Edition"
(similar in the Thunderbird RC)

Could this be a fault?

Because in German a dot followed by a comma is a fault.

The old FirefoxPortable.jpg shows
"Firefox.-Portable Edition"
this was better but without the dot it will be the perfect solution!

"Firefox - Portable Edition"

If the string is a consequence of the license agreement with Mozilla and not a fault please let me know.

Regards
Marko
