Firefox detects no new updates

Submitted by back on September 22, 2016 - 8:54am

HI @all,

I have installed Firefox on several PC´s. These PC´s are all clones of each other.
On some PC´s Firefox automatically detectes an Update and askes if it should be installed.
But on some PC´s Firefox doesn´t detect an Update. In the Menu "About Firefox" it checks for Updates and says that Version 47.1 or 48.2 is newest and no Update is availible. The actual Version is 49.0.
How can i fix this ?

All bookmarks have disappeared and restore option fails

Submitted by PetersT on September 10, 2016 - 9:23am

Yesterday (9-Sep-2016) my bookmarks in FFP suddenly disappeared. In addition, when I click the bookmarks icon, the panel of bookmarks no longer appears on the right side of the screen. If I select Show All Bookmarks, a "Library" window opens, but is empty. If, from that Library window, I take the option to Restore (under Import and Backup) , I get a pop-up saying "Unable to process the backup file". I tried numerous back-ups that Firefox had created, but got the same message every time.

Unknown certificate issuer errors

Hi,
I just noticed that addons in both my Firefox portable instances didn't update for more than a month whereas the same addons in my non portable Firefox installation updated correctly.
So I tried to manually update the addons in my portable Firefox but I got errors: "There was an errror downloading <extension_name>" for each not up-to-date addon.
In the "Tools > Web Developer > Browser Console", there were more details:
"addons.cdn.mozilla.net:443 uses an invalid security certificate.

Firefox suddenly fail to load config

Submitted by cybie on August 9, 2016 - 4:08pm

My Portable Firefox has been working fine till today, it stops loading everything (add ons, history, cookies, storage, etc.), basically all profile.

When I try to login to the sync account, it says that cookies and storage have been disabled, but under privacy, everything is set to accept. Tried installing new copy. Still the same thing.

What had happened with my firefox? All I did last was just quit the app, and start today.

Help. Anyone?

Firefox dropping support of older CPUs

Submitted by Freehunter on August 6, 2016 - 9:47pm

Just a heads up for those still using older PCs. Mozilla Firefox is dropping support for PCs that don't have SSE2.

If you are not sure about your PC, you can check with https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/cpu-z-portable

In the 48.0 release notes, https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/48.0/releasenotes/

Is there a non-portableapps version of Firefox ESR?

Submitted by gwt10 on August 6, 2016 - 6:49pm

The reason I ask is that I tried to install this version from your website and got a failed warning. I guess apparently I need the portableapps platform to go with it, but I can't install it on an old encrypted IronKey USB stick.

Can somebody point me in the right direction for FF portable builds?

Thank you.
