Portable Firefox profile refresh and the upgrade to Windows 10

Submitted by Megafrog on June 9, 2016 - 2:45pm

Firefox Portable was great when run locally on Windows 8.1 and previous. I finally "upgraded" to Windows 10 and now Firefox Portable has a ridiculous amount of "Not Responding" errors. It's almost unusable. I read that refreshing the profile might help in the transition between different windows versions and the link went here:

Portable Dev Edition can't load pages, but vanilla can. Any idea what's up?

I downloaded both Firefox Portable Developer Edition and vanilla Portable Firefox, but just the vanilla one works. Dev doesn't seem to be able to load pages, the page just stays white and the pinwheel on the tab just keeps spinning. Any idea what's going on?

I am able to view everything correctly on normal desktop firefox but using portable firefox, I am not able to load the video/activate adobe flash plugin. In some instances, not even able to see there's a video there.

If I disable adobe flash, and active silverlight. In some, I am able to view the video but it is not display in the correct size, smaller than intended but in some videos...only got sound and no video.

I am using portable FF to surf and when I came across some video, when I click play...the video is not play in its correct proportion.
Is there anything wrong with plugin or do I need to reinstall anything?
Pls kindly advise. Has it got to do with java or something?

Submitted by kit on May 24, 2016 - 9:59am

Hi portable apps forumers,

If there's a subscription forum/paid online course and I would like to setup such that user 1 from laptop 1 from location 1 and user 2 from laptop 2 from location 2 is able to access/login simultaneously without interruption.
How can I achieve that?

At the moment, when user 1 login and the next min user 2 login, user 1 will be auto log out.
Pls advise. Thanks.

In Mozilla Firefox portable where are the addons ( specifically NoScript) installed? Are they installed in the same directory where Firefox is installed( in my case Firefox is installed on D: drive) or are they installed on the main C: drive?

thank you

Firefox Portable and Windows 10

I upgraded to Windows 10 over the weekend. First Firefox Portable won't start saying that my profile is missing. I managed to fix that by move the profile to another directory, then started Firefox Portable, then copied the profile I moved into the new profile. I currently have Firexfox Portable 45.0.1, but I could not upgrade Firefox Portable to 46.0.1. I tried to upgrade it inside Firefox Portable (About Firefox), but it said I can't upgrade.

Portable version does not work on all content

Submitted by GeekGirlInFurs on May 10, 2016 - 12:03am

I am finding that web page links that are unresponsive when using the portable version of FF work fine when I access FF directly, even though it is the EXACT same version. More details:

I have Portable Firefox installed here: D:\FirefoxPortable.

In that folder is FirefoxPortable.exe, which is how I normally run FF (via a desktop shortcut). Doing it that way, an increasing number of links do not work.

But when I drill down and run FF directly from D:\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox\firefox.exe, the same links load just fine.
