Firefox 51.0.1 with Geckodriver problem

Submitted by buzz2buzz on February 14, 2017 - 3:45am

Hello

I'm doing automated tests with a Selenium platform. We use Firefox Portable for browser sharing on a single VM. Until now, I used Firefox 46 and under in Portable Edition to do my tests, with Selenium 2.53 which doesn't require GeckoDriver.
Now, I wanna test new Firefox versions but Geckodriver is mandatory !

Java support for multiple versions

Submitted by adrianmarsh on February 10, 2017 - 7:35am

Hi,

I've some devices which unfortunately their firmware requires specific versions of Java to access, a cross of v6, 7 and 8

I've installed x3 copies of portableapps in seperate folders, along with portable versions of Java Launcher and Browser Switch.
However, when I access the webpage and it prompts me for Java.. it always launches the OS-installed binary (java 6). I've verified which binary its calling using Process Explorer.

Am I missing something on how to get portable firefox to use the portable java version ?

Strange Profile Problem

Submitted by AllISeeIsBlack on February 2, 2017 - 6:54am

First time poster, but long-time user of portable apps!

I'm having a strange problem with Firefox. It seems to function correctly on most PCs but there's one that consistently gives me a "profile missing" error message. I click OK and then FF seems to function okay, although it periodically throws up the error.

I've error checked the drive, and tested in different USB ports, but the behaviour persists ... but only on that particular PC.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the anomaly?

Recent Firefox version not using Portable fonts feature

Submitted by Samuel Elstein on January 27, 2017 - 3:26pm

Ever since Firefox included the colored emoji font “EmojiOne Mozilla” in recent releases, It no longer loads the fonts in “X:/PortableApps/PortableApps.com/Data/fonts” folder (where “X” is drive letter). This is inconvenient as I set the default fonts for Firefox for those fonts in past versions.

launch firefox 32-bit version from shortcut

Submitted by Pete Spratt on January 18, 2017 - 3:20pm

Hello,
how can I start firefox 32 bit version from shortcut?

Firefox is not included in Portableapps platform
It's standalone (and portable, and downloaded from portable apps)
I know, that there are variants: to launch from app folder firefox 32 bit, delete 64 bit folder, than restore it...
But my question is how can I use launcher FirefoxPortable.exe to do that (for example, with shortcut)?

FF not compatible with gmail?

Submitted by ottosykora on January 3, 2017 - 6:07pm

Tried today to access my gmail with FF portable, 50.1.0, it tells me it is not compatible browser

Tried the same with installed FF, same problem

Then came here and tried post here. Some crazy capcha prevents this completely. One should select some pictures there. However what ever I do select, the captch seems to be invalid result.

Can we have some normal life again pls?

This is posted from opera, as no posting seems to be allowed from FF any more here?

Make Desktop and Portable Firefox exactly the same

Submitted by Alcasar on January 3, 2017 - 1:52am

I just had problems with the Sync completely screwing up my desktop version, so now i have to use my Portable version to fix it, but Sync doesn't seem to copy the customization and i have a lot of it. That's why i use Firefox, so i can customize it.
My portable version is both on one of my computer's HDDs and on a USB key.

Can the Developer version be installed over a Release version?

Submitted by Kernel on December 28, 2016 - 2:27am

Can a Developer version of Firefox Portable be installed over a Release version of Firefox Portable?

If so, are there any issues, concerns, or bugs with this process? Should the Release version be updated to the latest Release version before installing the Developer version on top of it, or does it not matter?

Netflix on 51.1.0

Submitted by kbeck on December 27, 2016 - 10:52pm

Sorry if this is old hat to some people, but it's new to me and I couldn't find a way to search the forum by keyword...

FF Portable 51.1.10 won't play Netflix (W7 Pro, W10 Pro) for me, in fact earlier versions used to, but it stopped about a year ago. I read about the FF open code and DRM issue, so I tried FF (also 51.1.0) from Mozilla. It plays Netflix just fine!

Any idea why FF Portable won't? Thanks,

Kevin

platform wants to update my esr 45 portable to 50 (not esr)!!

Submitted by patrickdrd on December 8, 2016 - 5:18pm

hello,

today I took a backup of my firefox 50.0.2 installation, since I decided to try the esr 45.5.1 version,
why I installed in the original folder which firefox 50.0.2 was, using the appropriate paf file,
then I opened the platform to check if everything was ok and to my surprise saw that
it wanted to update my esr installation to 50.0.2!
appinfo.ini file is correctly indicating that this folder is containing an esr version,
but the platform doesn't recognize it and wants to install the latest release,

any suggestions/workaround?
