moving TB portable from PC to PC

Submitted by sgp on April 23, 2008 - 2:12pm

I use TB portable installed on my laptop in C:\ThunderbirdPortable. Sometimes I need a different laptop, so I copy C:\ThunderbirdPortable to a USB disk and then from the USB disk to another laptop (same path), so I can run TBP there.

Each time I do this, TBP rebuilds the folder index for all folders. Why? What could be different between the two laptops - from TBP's point of view - since paths and file dates stay the same?

Enigmail Error

Submitted by MrMoods on April 19, 2008 - 10:13pm

Hi!

I'm using "Enigmail 0.95.6" with "Thunderbird Portable 2.0.0.12". When I send an eMail containing some text wich is longer than 1 line (autowrap) and I sign the message with PGP, the signature will get "BAD".

Someone who knows this problem?

Files NOT to sync between PT usb and desktop

Submitted by brewmanc on April 18, 2008 - 6:02pm

I've got PTB all setup on a USB but I would like tosync it to my desktop and run it from there. Each time I after copying the files to the desktop and running from there, it asks me to set up and account as if it is stating from scratch. There got to be some settings file which is causing this. anyone know which one?

I'll also want to sync back to the USB.

Can I use Portable TB as well as regulkar TB on one box?

Submitted by ozstar on April 18, 2008 - 6:50am

HI,

I have my primary TB on my desktop and I need to use it as a reference on my laptop for emails in and out etc.

Can I have a regular TB on my lap as well as the portable?

Will they effect each other?

Which would be the best to use with the Desktop email I have currently as it is extremely big with folders etc.

Thanks

I use XP.

Indexing (X1, Copernic) Tbird mail in other than C\App data

Submitted by brewmanc on April 14, 2008 - 5:31pm

I'm trying to justify moving from Outlook to Tbird but one the critical parts for me is quick and advanced search using X1 or Copernic. The only way I've gotten them to work is if Tbird leaves the mail in the typical install location. Does anyone know a work around or how to get these programs to index mail for a profile on a separate partition?
Thanks

Problem reading email offline

Submitted by ugrUSB on April 14, 2008 - 3:53am

I installed the latest version of Thunderbird Portable on a Sony 4Gb memory stick. I set up my gmail IMAP account no problems. I connected to the internet on my W2K home machine and read/deleted etc my email fine. I then synced the mail (and Newsgroup messages) for offline reading and took the USB stick to work. On my work Windows XP, when I launch Thunderbird Portable, the account is there but no email/IMAP folders are visible. (i.e. only the Inbox folder is listed on the account and it is empty)

I checked the following.
