Move from TB Portable to standard?

Submitted by Winfried on June 4, 2015 - 7:07am

Hello

I started using the Portable version to make sure it worked OK.

After two weeks, I'm happy with it and ready to move to the standard version, ie installed in Windows through the installer.

How do I move data from the Portable version to the standard version without losing anything, including settings?

Thank you.

No 'safe to remove hardware' after running ThunderbirdPortable

Hi. New here and have reviewed open topics quickly but no joy.

I have ThunderbirdPortable working nicely on both GMail and another (Shaw) webmail account, loaded on a large capacity brandname USB thumb/flash drive.

After finishing my email work, and Closing/Exiting TBP, I cannot safely eject my USB drive ('busy', close open apps, etc.).

If I am working in the PortableApps alone (including installs/updates to apps) without opening and closing TBP, I can safely eject my USB drive ('safe to eject hardware').

Getting back to the inbox

Submitted by clayto on May 19, 2015 - 10:14am

I have asked this question on Mozilla Forum but never got a reply. When I navigate away from the inbox, for example to write an email I often find it difficult to get back to the inbox. Sometimes I have to close Thunderbird down and relaunch to continue work, at other times I just happen to land on a button that takes me back. I suspect this is just a simple thing that I have missed out on somehow. What is the straightforward way to get back to the inbox?

[Fixed] Thunderbird Portable can leave an empty GnuPG and Mozilla\Extensions folders within APPDATA when Enigmail/GPG is used

I've noticed that Thunderbird Portable can sometimes leave behind an empty Extensions folder within APPDATA\Mozilla when installing certain extensions and restarting the current release of Thunderbird. This bug is noted and will be addressed in the next release.

Thunderbird Portable vs Firefox Installed vs RAM Disk

Submitted by subdivider on February 2, 2015 - 12:06pm

Hello, since I recently bought SSD, I desided to redirect (mklink command) Firefox folders from %APPDATA% and %LOCALAPPDATA% to RAM Disk (ImDisk Virtual Disk Driver).
More specifically I set up persistent RAM Drive R: that is inicialized from *.img file during logon and written to *.img (on hdd) during logoff.

Then I created symbolic links by
mklink /D %APPDATA%\Mozilla R:\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla
mklink /D %LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla R:\AppData\Local\Mozilla

Everything works as expected (preventing writes on SSD)...
