Thunderbird Portable

Recently, my well-used and up-to-date (31.0) Thunderbird has been experiencing long hang-ups during many normal operations. Deleting messages, moving messages between folders, sending messages, and once, retrieving a message. It hangs for 30 seconds to several minutes, displaying the "busy" cursor. Windows reports "Not responding." Task Manager can't kill it until it decides to come back. Actually, it can kill the ThunderbirdPortable.exe process, but not the thunderbird.exe process.

i just did a fresh install of thunderbird portable and copied my old user.js file to the data\profile folder, but the settings are not present in the prefs.js.

the firefox user.js that i have created is working like charm in its folder, so i don't know what is wrong on tb's side?

any hints highly appreciated

A lot of links in the helpfile are broken. For example: http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/keyboard but a lot others too.

Is somebody aware of the newer URL's because I assume the pages are still existing but on another place?

I just installed the portable version and wanted to ad an additional language for the spell checker. However it won't work the way it is described.

However I found a very simple way, so I want to share it:

1. Download the vocabulary language with your browser. You will now have a file with exention *.xpi

2. Extract the xpi file met 7-zip

3. copy the *.dic and the *.aff file to the folder: App\Thunderbird\dictionaries\

4. start Thunderbird and you can choose between the languages when you compose a message. Nothing else to do.

Hi,

I've just added another aol account, newly created, to Tbird. The account works when used in a browser, ie FfxPortable. But when I send emails from Tbird, I always get an error message.

I've spoken to AOL and they just said to remove and recreate the account in Tbird, which I did, but it still won't send anything.
I also got error whilst Tbird tried saving Draft.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just found out I can copy the error text, so here it is:

When I put in www.duckduckgo.com as my start page,
then ok then restart thunderbird portable it reverts to google.ca
it will not save no matter what i do.
The same thing happened with futureshop.
how do i change this permanently?

My thunderbird is around 450mb. Is that a normal size? It doesn't have any emails in the local folder. What are the size for other folks?

Why only GnuPG 1.4.x for Thunderbird Portable?

In 2006 GnuPG 2.0.x was released as a stable version (source: http://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-announce/2006q4/000239.html) - nearly 8 years ago.
The Enigmail Project recommends GnuPG version 2.x in its documentation: https://www.enigmail.net/documentation/
And - furthermore - it is possible to create a portable Gpg4win version with GnuPG 2.0.x since version 2.2.0 (released 2013-08-20).

Is there any plan to release "GPG for Thunderbird Portable" with GnuPG 2.x in near future?

Hasn't anyone noticed that the progress bar you know the little blue bar that goes from left to right when checking for emails and or downloading them inside the status bar has been broken since I'm guessing version 18? It's as it were out of bound.

A wile back I gave a fresh version a go and to my surprise the problem was gone, so updated again after that but the problem is back in versions 38.2.0 and up.

I am not able to add any of my email accounts on TB portable. They don't recognise them. Normal TB works just fine. Can anyone help?
