Thunderbird Portable

SOLVED - Thunderbird not sending email from one account

Submitted by sl23 on July 23, 2014 - 4:31pm

Hi,

I've just added another aol account, newly created, to Tbird. The account works when used in a browser, ie FfxPortable. But when I send emails from Tbird, I always get an error message.

I've spoken to AOL and they just said to remove and recreate the account in Tbird, which I did, but it still won't send anything.
I also got error whilst Tbird tried saving Draft.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Scott

EDIT:
Just found out I can copy the error text, so here it is:

GnuPG 2.0.x for Thunderbird Portable?

Submitted by Th0mas on June 24, 2014 - 4:55am

Why only GnuPG 1.4.x for Thunderbird Portable?

In 2006 GnuPG 2.0.x was released as a stable version (source: http://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-announce/2006q4/000239.html) - nearly 8 years ago.
The Enigmail Project recommends GnuPG version 2.x in its documentation: https://www.enigmail.net/documentation/
And - furthermore - it is possible to create a portable Gpg4win version with GnuPG 2.0.x since version 2.2.0 (released 2013-08-20).

Is there any plan to release "GPG for Thunderbird Portable" with GnuPG 2.x in near future?

Status Bar » Progress Bar Issue

Submitted by eNdEmiOn on June 11, 2014 - 9:24pm

Hasn't anyone noticed that the progress bar you know the little blue bar that goes from left to right when checking for emails and or downloading them inside the status bar has been broken since I'm guessing version 18? It's as it were out of bound.

edit:
A wile back I gave a fresh version a go and to my surprise the problem was gone, so updated again after that but the problem is back in versions 38.2.0 and up.

Lightning usage in Dropbox with external calendar bugs

Submitted by kwoxer on May 15, 2014 - 9:16am

Lightning makes trouble when used with Dropbox.

I have installed Lightning in the Portable Thunderbird. That worked! Biggrin

But I wanted to share my calendar with someone so I put in on my dropbox and shared it with that person. That was leading to conflicts... damn

Now I tried another way. I copied the whole folder. Everyone was now using his own files. But here we also getting conflicts...

Prompting for new e-mail address

Submitted by PetersT on May 13, 2014 - 12:31pm

This morning, when I opened Thunderbird portable, I got a pop-up window asking if I would like a new e-mail address. The pop-up had a pre-selected (checked box) for something called gandi.net. I selected the button labeled "Skip this and use my existing email". I then got an e-mail account set-up pop-up, on which I clicked the "Cancel" button. I was then in Thunderbird with none of my previous e-mails present, and no account information. Yesterday, Thunderbird was just fine. How do I get my e-mails back? I have hundreds of them.

Articles marked read revert to unread status

Submitted by joetron2030 on April 8, 2014 - 12:54pm

I'm currently running version 24.4.0. I currently have the message pane showing and my Thunderbird settings such that a new message is marked read as soon as I select it. One thing I've noticed since this latest update is that sometimes when I select an unread message, its state gets changed to read and then reverts to unread.

I definitely didn't have this problem with previous versions of Thunderbird Portable.

Portable Thunderbird hangs on startup with Mavericks, asking to allow contacts, how do I stop this?

Submitted by mbuice02 on March 28, 2014 - 11:19am

As a part of the new security features of OSX Mavericks, it seems to run a "one time" check when you install new apps for things you want the app to access. In this case, it runs the check for portable thunderbird to access contacts and it asks me if I want to grant the application permission to access contacts. Normally, this is a one-time thing, but because portable thunderbird is "new" every time it is mounted on the drive, it runs this check every time.
