Thunderbird Portable

please advise

tried out TB's IMAP to access gmail account, but have a big problem

no matter that Sync options are set to download mail to local folder, and no restrictions of date or size are in place, i still can not force thunderbird to store mail locally (ie, work offline).

if there is no internet connection, than on some computers TB still shows all gmail folders, and mail headers, but no text is there.

or the same usb flash on other computer without internet, just wont show any mail folders at all.

this bug has been driving me crazy for a while now. I am running windows 7 64 bit on my machine. When windows is up and running I start portable apps and the first time I run mozilla thunderbird it starts up with no problem. When I exit it and then try to restart it, the system processes shows it running but I can't get to it, I can't access the graphical interface. If I click on it again to start it, it appears there are multiple instances of it running but I can't get to any of the processes. I can kill of of them manually except 1 instance, and i have to reboot to fix the problem.

Hi, since a while I get empty mails from some senders. It started before the last software update. When I switch the view to html they get visible, but view as text they are completely empty, also when I use the quote for reply.
I've compacted folders, updated the software, changed character encoding... to no avail.
What could be the reason for this?

I've been using TBP for some time now and have had no issues so far.

However, whilst checking emails it 'announced' that a newer version was available, would I like to update? I clicked yes.

It displayed that it was downloading the update, came to the end and explained that Thunderbird would have to restart to complete the update.

So I let it restart, but after ten minutes it still had not restarted. It had closed TBP and seemed to have stopped all activity. There was no activity on the laptop at all!

I updated a normal install of Thunderbird this morning. Afterward, I was met with a notice indicating that going forward, Thunderbird updates will happen automatically. I want to know if this is likely to cause difficulties for those using T-Bird Portable.

PortableApps asked me to upgrade TBird Portable which I did. TBird then opened after saying u/g was complete and immediately crashed - with a notice that Tbird system cannot run and has crashed. I cannot remember the exact words because they flashed up and were gone so quickly, but it did explicitly say it was crashing.

i'm from Germany and use Thunderbird Portable since 2.1.6
In the past, all updates done without any Problems, but now "Update 16.0.1" dont want to upgrad my TB Portable.

The Error means one or more Processes blocked the Upgrading.
I still rebooted my PC 5 times, same Error.

Following the Error displays:

Softwareupdate failed! (Softwareupdate fehlgeschlagen (in German))

The Update couldn't installed. Please be sure, no other Processes are active on this Computer. Please restart Thunderbird to try another Test.

My Portable Thunderbird version 16.0 keeps creating a folder under profile/mail called "Cache" with subfolders 0, 1, 2, 3 etc + letters A-F. When I delete the folder, they reappear when I restart Thunderbird. Mozilla forums says that this is used by the optional disk cache added in Thunderbird 3.0.
This happens even if I've set the space used by Thunderbird to zero in Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network & Disk Space -> Disk Space.
Any ideas anyone?

As the title says, Symantec detects threats in emails that have been deleted! Why does it do this and how can I stop it?

I use thunderbird portable (15.0.1) on a external hard drive.

I used to miss some space on it few days ago, so I cleaned it and now 1go free space.

Yet, I have a message error of TP telling I need to free space.
I have compacted all my folders manually and with a special app for it.

How can i do?
