Thunderbird Portable 3 Beta 3 not showing threads

I'm not sure that this is the right place, but it says beta...

With the 3 beta 3, the threads don't seem to work.

When using the standard version (2.xxx) the threads show up, with the plus/minus button

With the beta, I don't see them.

Is it just me Pardon

Manage extensions on TB

Submitted by Giulia on August 9, 2009 - 8:24pm

Hello the community,
In the page about Thunderbird Portable, I could read that most of the extensions won't work with the software.

However, I need the same extensions as I have on my standard Thunderbird to ease me life.
-> Any idea on how can I manage the problem ? I searched everywhere but found nothing Beee

Thanks for your help

Update problem

Submitted by go4saket on August 2, 2009 - 8:38am

Hello friends!

I am using Portable Thunderbird on a Win XP SP3 platform for some time. Recently I tried to update it to the latest version by clicking on the update link in the help menu. Although it downloaded the full software without a problem, it is not able to update the software. Everytime I start Thunderbird, it tried to install the downloaded version but fails saying

"One or more files could not be updated. Please make sure that all applications are closed and that you have permissions to modify files and then restart Thunderbird to try again"

TP losing SMTP settings

Submitted by portableGas on August 1, 2009 - 5:46pm

Almost every time I launch Thunderbird Portable and try to send an email, I get an error that it can't connect to the SMTP server. When I check Account Settings -- Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings, the Description, Server Name and User Name are blank.

Has anyone else seen this happen?

Running Linux on one device and Windows on the other.

OK, this is probably a rather stupid question that has been asked before but here it goes. I'm running Fedora Core 7 on the computer I use for a desktop and Windows XP Home edition on the little computer I drag around. I'm assuming that Thunderbird Portable on a flash drive will work nicely on both computers,is my assumption correct? Also, I'm assuming that I can back up Thunderbird Portable on one of the computers just in case something happens to the flash drive.

Thanks for your help.

More than one copy installed?

Submitted by qussuvagsi on July 31, 2009 - 3:54pm

Is it possible to install more than one copy of Thunderbird at once?

I could really make a case for needing three copies...

One for old, classic personal email. (Several years old, but I still reference some technical messages occasionally. And I just simply don't want to loose it.)

A second one for my current personal email.

A third one for business mail.

I took a look at it and I tried to do it by changing some stuff in the app\appinfo\appinfo.ini file but it doesn't look that's enough.
