Thunderbird Portable

It doesn't ask me for the password

Submitted by xavierot on May 27, 2009 - 10:32am

Hi everybody. I dont know what happens, but it's impossible to connect with the servers. I tried with a gmail account, and also with another personal .net account, and nothing. Every time I try to send/receive email, the message "could not connect to server xxxxx: theconnection was refused" appears.
I'm using it at the company I work... maybe there is a kind of firewall or something...? Ah, and it doesn't ask me for the account password!
help please!

Problems Running TBP under Wine in Ubuntu

Submitted by Augi on May 19, 2009 - 12:22pm

I installed Ubuntu (9.04) onto my laptop. Wine (1.0.1) was able to run some of my PA. The important programs, Thunderbird Portable and Keepass, worked. I run TBP this morning and it freezes at the program start. In the System Monitor, it labels thunderbird.exe as "Zombie" with waiting channel "do_exit". I found this when running through the terminal:

wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x0000002c at address 0x5221af (thread 0037), starting debugger...
Unhandled exception: page fault on write access to 0x0000002c in 32-bit code (0x005221af).

will not download mail

Submitted by vancouverabbey on May 16, 2009 - 4:36am

I am using a gmail account through Thunderbird.

I had problems with my first Thunderbird install after I downloaded the messages from the server (messages were downloaded but left on server). I deleted the Thunderbird folder completely and did a new install. Then I added my gmail account again and this time it says there are no new messages.

How do I get it to download the messages that are there? In my portable Thunderbird I have zero messages in my inbox but 200 in gmail and I want those in thunderbird.

I have just installed new AVG Internet security on My PC at Work and I have now problem with Thunderbird portable. It seems to hung on access to the mail folder when I click on send, receive o create mail it just replays working with this folder and there is continuously running progress bar at the bottom. Previous version AVG 7.5 had no effect on functionality and TB worked just fine.

Does anybody have an idea what may cause this?

Can't send mail from TB Portable

Submitted by digger057 on May 13, 2009 - 1:39pm

I've recently started to use Thunderbird Portable, but I am unable to send mail with it. I have no problem receiving mail but cannot use my provider's smtp server (which uses the same user name and password) to send mail. This problem exists anywhere I've tried (work, home, public, etc.) any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

enigmail takes C:\ for keyring files

Submitted by nonano on May 4, 2009 - 3:18pm

Hi all,

I have recently set up a Portable Thunderbird with GnuPG (and Lightning) extension which seemed to run pretty well at the first glance.

Now that I am trying to set up another USB-stick in the same manner, I learned that gpg stores the keyring files under C:\

I made some experiments with adding parameters in the 'expert settings' dialogue or putting a gpg.conf file in the gpg root directory (where the gpg.exe lives) -- I didn't suceed, needless to mention.

To clearify the whole issue, here is how I figured out which keyring is used:

Input

force quoted printable

Submitted by ottosykora on May 4, 2009 - 12:07pm

I would like to force the TBP to use quoted printable as content transfer, but this seems not to work somehow. Either it chooses something by estimating the from the text or it has to be fixed set and then it uses often 8bit transfer encoding.

Any idea where to set it? It is somehow confusing, sometimes it arrives as 8bit sometimes as QP ..?
