So, it's been out for what... three minutes already? So, where's our portable version? And with that said, I'll now duck behind this handy portable barrier.

Lads for sending an E-mail on a computer wich carrier you do not now, I thought this link could help you out.
http://www.showmyip.com/
most off the time the smtp would be stmp.carrier.country
I hope this hint works for you as it does for me.

I'm kinda having a problem with ptb: allthough I've set it up to act as the default mail client for the system (XP Prof), it does not act like that, i.e.: when trying to send files from desktop by rightclicking&sendto: mail recipient NOTHING happens. When trying to send from within openoffice writer, I receive an error message saying that there is no mail client defined.
What can I do?
Thanks
is it possible to modify a extention that was made for a earlier version so it could work on the portable thunderbird 1.5 Thanks
my inbox file is 100 meg on my usb drive. when i add all the email messages up in my entire email account its under 1 meg. I have compacted and still the same size.
any ideas?
i recently downloaded a good deal of email probly 400 megs worth but deleted and compacted. why is my inbox so bloated.
as a test i tried zip-ing it up to see what the results were.. 50k
so something definitely seems wrong.
I have Portable TB1.5 RC1 with Enigmail and GPG installed in a USB Pen drive
and two mail accounts working fine.
The problem(?) is that PTB keeps asking to update to a new version PTB v1.5.
I select "not now" because i am not sure if it is safe to update PTB that way.
Could someone enlighten me?
BTW, is it safe to update Enigmail from Tools-->Extensions - [update now]?;
There is a new ver.093.2 of enigmail ready to go.;)
TIA.
I know you recommend not to enable anti-virus because of adverse affect on flash drive life but this morning I had 1000+ messages waiting on just one account. Valid emails were less than 10. My current spam filter (Spamihilator) had a 99% efficiency. After 2 weeks of training PTB, it let through more than 12%. There were still about 125 messages (115 spam) to go through. I for one would rather replace my drive every 3-4 months than wade through all this spam. Great site and Great tools. Many thanks for your work. Donation to follow.
Hi all,
I've just started using Portable Thunderbird, and it's a great portable app. However, one of the main benefits of Thunderbird is the excellent Adaptive Junk Mail Filter. I notice that John Haller recommends turning the filter off and not marking mail as junk to prolong flash drive life, but mail without a junk filter these days is a bit painful.
Does anyone have any experience of how the junk filter affects drive life -- what problems does it cause and are there any workarounds?
I currently have junk filtering enabled and it's working great (doesn't seem to slow things down much even plugged into my USB 1.1 laptop), but will my drive really crash and burn if I keep using it? Are we talking days, weeks, months, years...???
After decompressing the download, I click on PortableThunderbird.exe and get message Thunderbird.exe was not found. Check your configuration.
Do I need to modify something or did I miss something?
I just downloaded Portable Thunderbird
first to synchronize my old PC thunderbird I run PortableThunderbird\Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe
I copy all mail, installed all extensions, patched to RC2, etc etc ...
then I copy all files from AppData\Thunderbird\...\profile directory into
PortableThunderbird\profile
then I am trying to run PortableThunderbird.exe
everything I get is that PortableThunderbird.exe never runs PortableThunderbird\Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe,
PortableThunderbird.exe starts using much CPU (probably as much as it can, like 99%)
interesting thing is when I start second PortableThunderbird.exe (the first one instance is still working and eating much cpu) the second one starts PortableThunderbird\Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe (PortableThunderbird.exe sometimes crash but thunderbird is alywas working fine with that second run)
