Transfering profile and mail settings to regular TB

Submitted by darknike on July 21, 2007 - 6:37pm

Hi!

I am new to the forum and have been using TB portable for a while, and now I want to have my profiles, emails, mail settings, and address book + extensions transferred to use a regular version (non-portable) of Thunderbird.
What is the easiest way of doing that?

Any help appreciated.

Could John release Mozilla products with the autoupdates UNCHECKED by default?

I installed the latest 2.0.0.4 Thunderbird from this site, and it came with the autoupdate option already enabled. I didn't realize this until I got updated without my consent to 2.0.0.5. While nothing bad came from it, I'd rather do my updates from this site at my own demand.

Is it a violation of any of the licenses to distribute it with these options unchecked? Or maybe John could put a warning on the DL page in the section for Updating, so people know all their options.

Can I delete Thunderbird Portable files/folders from C:\ ?

Submitted by aleksy on July 18, 2007 - 7:56pm

I just downloaded the lasted version of Thunderbird Portable.
All my email and address book transferred over (whew!).

Is it safe to now delete the old version from my C:\ drive so that T/P operates only off my USB jump drive?

I have to travel more than I am home and it would help a lot if I can operate my email just off T/P on my jump drive.

Thank you to whomever is kind enough to answer this for me.

Cheers,
aleksy

Indexing Portable Thunderbird

Submitted by kleinfelter on July 16, 2007 - 2:13pm

I'd like to index Thunderbird Portable with a desktop search tool. I'm willing to use X1, Copernic, or Windows Desktop Search, or some sort of Thunderbird-only indexer. (Can't use Google -- it is blocked by policy.)

When I try to tell any of these tools to index Thunderbird, they can't find Thunderbird, and they don't give me a chance to manually specify where to find Thunderbird data.

Yes, I know that portable and desktop-search sounds like an oxymoron.

Anyone successfully indexing Thunderbird Portable?

TIA
