Thunderbird Portable

I have discovered that, while downloading new messages, there is a file "newmsg" that is saved on the hard drive in the current user's temp directory (\Documents and Settings\[user]\Local Settings\Temp\). It seems to be a placeholder for the current message being downloaded. When the message is downloaded, "newmsg" is removed and apparently imported into the Thunderbird mailbox. then, "newmsg" is recreated for the next incoming message. I have opened up the "newmsg" file in Notepad, and it is the full e-mail, headers and all!

When TBP launches it sometimes gives the error below. Then i install it again and it begins working. if anyone knows the answer i will be appriciated.

I have a VB6 application that I run from my portable hard drive. I would like to send emails from within that VB app via Portable Thunderbird. I've seen ways that involve making Thunderbird the default email client, however, that is not an option for me. Has anybody done this? If so, please post a VB6 code example.

I have a problem with the opening of the files saved from mail attachments. Access to the mailbox via IMAP. After downloading the file to my hard drive, it is becoming less original 10-30Kb. The downloaded file is not open, because he damaged. Using another mail client (such as Microsoft Outlook Express 6), there are no such problems.

Have used program Portable Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 (English version) without additional settings, and plug-ins (as is). A program install on a portable USB hard drive.

I have just downloaded what I thought was an updated version of Thunderbird (v2) from the Portible Apps site.
It is not recognised when I use my U3 drive to load it. I stored it on my hard drive and it does not seem to be in the right forward.

Any offers of help

I have followed all the set up steps, and have enabled POP on my gmail account. Thunderbird won't connect. Always says server times out.

Thoughts?

I assume it is this file:

\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile\chrome\userChrome.css

I have been trying to mod this simply with

/* Change Browser Fonts */
* { font-size: 14pt !important;
font-family: tahoma !important; }

and there is no effect on my TB - any thoughts??

Is this the wrong file? wrong syntax???

Is there a chromedit that will mod TB Port userChrome

I assume this is the default behaviour as it cuts down on disk writes, but I'd like to save my sent emails. Is there an option I can enable to do this?

Was running Thunderbird on a thumb drive where Firefox is also located, but was not running. When I clicked on a link in an email in TB, it opened FF, but believe it was FF on the hard drive.

Is there a way to prevent this so that it would open FF on the thumb? (Scenario would be when on a public computer with FF and reading msgs in TB it would open the wrong program without my setup and bookmark the site.)

Presumably if FFP was always running along with TBP it would always use that running program?

Installed TBP 2.0.0.5 on U3 thumb from TBP site, not U3 site. Copied over Profile and all is fine. Except, do not have any plugins. There are 3 plugin folders:
1) TBP/app/default data/data/plugins
2) TBP/data/plugins
3) TBP/data/profile/plugins.

Folders 1 @ 2 each have one file only, ""plugins_readme.txt" which states to "install FireFox plugins in this directory."

Believe what is meant is to install Thunderbird plugins here?
