TB 3.1.6 seems to leave data on clean PC

Submitted by Moonbase on October 30, 2010 - 4:27am

I used Thunderbird Portable 3.1.6 on a freshly installed Windows XP+SP3 PC (Dell, German) and now Windows’ logon screen shows "1506 ungelesene E-Mails" ("1506 unread emails") for the user I ran TB Portable under.

So it seems TB Portable somehow stores information on the PC, or leaves registry entries.

Could someone more knowledgeable please have a look into this?

Hint: Windows can be configured not to show the number of unread emails on the logon screen, so be sure to have this function enabled while testing.

Links does not open browser

When I hover over a link in TB the cursor changes to a hand and the link is displayed at the bottom of the screeen, but nothing happens when I press the link. I use TB-portable, Google Chrome portable and IE, and TB-Portable has been set a my default browser, but nothing happens. So everytime I have to open a link, I manually copy the link location into the browser and sees it this way. But that is starting to get a bit tedious Smile

Work email on TB

Submitted by chris_elevate on October 21, 2010 - 6:27pm

Hi,

I'm currently using outlook for my work email and leaving them on the server.

I was thinking of swapping to TB and I wondered a couple if things...

Can the personal settings such as folders etc be stored on a network and then accessed by different machines I work on?

Can the portable version in TB access these settings?

Is there anyway these settings could be stored on webserver?

Can you set TB so it leaves a copy of the mail in the server?

Can you import an email list like one I've got in outlook?

Thanks
