Thunderbird Portable

OK, I noticed this some time ago but thought I had done something wrong. Now just watched it happen and it was not me. Sometimes my emails are disappearing, not all emails just some of them. It appears that the entire 'thread' of emails from a sender will be deleted also, including any responses I may have sent. It appears to be happening when the folders are compacted. I compact at least once per day. Today I had received an email that I had not yet opened. When prompted to compact, I did, and then the email was gone, nowhere to be found.

I'm finding that Thunderbird Portable 3.0.2 is creating and leaving behind a directory behind after it is closed: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Crash Reports

Sometimes it leaves a text file named InstallTime20100216161403 which contains a numeric string.

This happens in Vista 32bit and Win 7 32bit.

Anyone else seen this?

I used the Provider for Google Calendar in TB3.0.1 portable to sync my google calendar.
It's work fine at home pc which I set the google calendar's username/password first, but if I run the TB3.01 in others computers, The TB can't link to the carlendar, it always request the google calendar's username/password.

I try to delete the calendars and reset them again in others PC, I check the "saved passwords", and there is not save the google calendar password still.

Why? Please help me.

Just did an upgrade of my entire Portable Apps Suite and have ran into troubles using Thunderbird under SuSE11.2 Linux / wine. Seems ok under Windows Vista. Under Linux, emails are only partially viewable. Any previous replys will show, but new content does not appear. just white space. Highlighting and doing a copy paste does move content into the clipboard so I know the content of the email is there. Also can see it if I view the source. But it does not display.

Master password required to use 3 after update.

I tried to remove my master password with this from Thunderbirds website.

Thunderbird 2 and above: Choose Tools – Error Console, paste the expression: openDialog("chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul") and press the Evaluate button. That will open a dialog asking you if you want to reset your password.

Problem, Thunderbird errors out I click "OK" to remove the master password. Then when I restart all the old passwords are still there.

Is there a diff way to do it with the portable apps...?

Is Thunderbird an HTML email reader ? No matter which reader I use, Windows Live, Thunderbird, or SeaMonkey, I cannot view email offline with images displayed. Gmail looks great but offline reading at home is completely imageless. I'm letting images thru without blocking, etc. but it just doesn't want to work offline.

Is there a configuration switch somewhere I am missing ?

Over a year ago I upgraded Thunderbird Portable and my language setting changed from UK to American style, e.g. my waist basket became "trash".
I have just updated Thunderbird Portable to the latest version and it still has the American style. is there a way I can change it back to English/British?

My problems with T'Bird portable started a couple of weeks ago (I WAS running T'Bird 2.x) off a USB drive. T'Bird just stopped working - wasn't able to invoke it at all.

So, I bought a brand new Kingston USB drive, installed T'Bird Portable 3.0.1 and for four days it worked just fine :). However, now when I try to invoke T'Bird all I get is the Splash screen and poof - nothing more!

I forgot to close Thunderbird before shuting down computer (WinXP). And now, when I wish to open Thunderbird, it opens totally empty and asks to set up accounts, although I had several e-mail accounts there.
But the add-on Calendar (Lightning) is ok - it still has all the notes and events I had saved.

What could I do, to get back the mail accounsta nd all the mails and address book?
